I got a Super tune kit from Rich last week and eventually got round to doing the tune today.
You know, that guy writes pretty good instruction.... even I could understand them :D
The difference in the gun is amazing! The new muzzle break gives it a nice look too.
The hardest part was cutting the standard rear guide off with a BLUNT blade... geeze it took
about 20 minutes :p
Also, I have never seen that much grease / lube in a gun in my life! It took me almost as long to
clean it as it took to get apart.
Anyhow, the needle roller bearing is the greatest, zero spring torque and a nice straight
recoil and with the trigger insert it's 100% sweet!.
I can't wait to get it shooting in the morning (just got it together now) it's a tad late now to
shooting it :D
Here's a pic of the job when it reached "the point of no return" and after it was back together:

Very Nice CFX Roald,
So now your into the guts of the beast, grease and goo, and all !
You know that I haven't been inside a springer yet, so why did you need to cut off the Standard Rear Guide ?
She sure looks good though, and I wish you good shootin tomorrow !!!!
Let us know how.
-
Thanks Bill, Rich makes a custom rear guide that fits over the top of the old one.
The problem is that GAMO makes the rear guide part of the breach plug, so what
you have to do is cut it off, leaving a 1/2" bit that Rich's new custom guide fits over.
It's a good tight fit and works very well. it virtually eliminates all the spring noise.

I must have damaged the seal while installing it last night .It was late and I should have stopped and
carried on this morning.... but no.... idiot that I am, I pushed on and put it all back together with bad
results. I found that it had lost at least 100fps is muzzle velocity and it's also very inconsistent, so it
can't group worth a dam... I'd post bad group shots but I'm too embarrassed 8)
It must be the seal because it'll push a PBS round to almost 1173fps but fails to push heavier pellets
over 810fps ..... well CPL's vary from 790 to 850fps.
Anyhow. it's not all bad, I love tinkering and this will provide me with hours of fun no doubt.
Hey.... live and learn :D
Oh.... another thing... That spring compressor that Rich made me... man it's fantastic!
It's so easy to do things when you have the right tools :)
-
Ya, a bad seal will give you erratic groups... Did you de bur the action?
-
Gene, it looks like driving the Breach plug pin back through caused a new one (bur)
at the one pin hole, It nicked the seal coming out and when I put it back in again.... I failed
to check it after I'd polished all the edges. I had got the anti-bear trap spring caught between
the trigger body (foot) and the tube, only noticed it after the plug was pinned back in and had
to pull it all out again to get it free. In the process I had got the Bearing Tophat upper washer to
drop sideways in the piston and pulled it out to re-seat it. In retrospect, I should not have taken
it all the way out.. man this hind sight being 20/20 is a bugger isn't it? :)
Anyhow, no harm done... just another good learning experience :D
