So there I am bored and figured I'd pop a chemlite at 30 yards at night. Easy shot in theory. So I set up in the sniper den. Set up the tripod, get out the gamo hunter and let a few rounds go. And all misses. That's not right. I don't miss. So I break out the 350 and let 1 go didn't sound right. Missed. Let another go and get a ricochette! Stopped secured everything and turned onthe lights and sure as poop I shot the window sill! All 4 rounds! My scope cleared the sill but obviously not the barrel. I'm in trouble.
I got a little patch work to do before the old lady gets home. Lol thank god for wood putty.

Welcome to the club, did similar when sniping for bushy tail doing cover digging in my backyard. Bugger was posing for the shot and using my backyard sniping AG and when I pulled the trigger...heard a loud twack and got me surpirsed and thinking my gadget broke giving that not so friendly sound. Bushy tail scampered and I had to think fast on how I would fix the damage on my window's metal lip that I shot. Scope was cleared but not the barrel, o well..things we do as grown up!

Mental note to self for next time ... "open the window first". (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif)

I feel for ya... couple years ago I posted about shooting out the very clean sliding glass patio door that I thought was open. I think your repair will be cheaper...
-
I have a dent in the back of my chronograph from looking through the scope to fire a pellet. I wonder how many have done that one? I learned my lesson and just hold the barrel near the sensor.
-
I know the feeling.
-
Your not alone !!! :D :D :D
First pic is the hinge gap of my kitchen storm door. Left half- moon notch was a clean miss at a Squirrel's head. The right hand half-moon notch I thought was a miss also,.... until I looked up in the tree and saw a very mad Squirrel looking down at me while rubbing his right ear. The pellet clipped it instead of between the eyes. After two of those I learned to center the muzzel in the gap before looking through the scope !! :D
Next pic is the back side of my F-1 ShootingChrony. Again, two hits before I learned to lower the tripod a bit !!!! :D

You brothers are hard on the household and equipment hehe. Ed

I had a good friend over and we were shooting in my back yard. I had a few bird decoys out in the bushes and trees. And my good friend thought he saw an easy shot and plugged one of my decoys.. hehehehehe
-
Gene, - that reminds me of a time back in the Stone Age when I was duck hunting with a friend. It was early morning, still dark, and we put out a number of HIS decoys. We were waiting in this huge marsh for sunrise, couldn't hunt before that. We both had rather large hangovers at the time. - Before you know it, a little sunlight appeared - never knew that marsh already had about 5000 duck hunters in it. It sounded like WWIII had just started in that marsh, - my Gawd what noise. Not to let anything get away, - I stood up and plugged three of his decoys, - they didn't get away.
-
LOL John, sounds like something I would of done also back in the stone age...:)
-
I'm guilty of killing Gene's Dove decoy's hehe. It looked like it had just landed on a branch out in his yard, was the wind and I couldn't pass up a easy kill. The decoy took a direct hit :o oh that wasn't a real bird hehe. Ed

If I'm ever around you guys,.. I've got to remember not the wear my hunting hat with the antlers on it that my ex-wife gave me !!!! :D :D

Paint and brush 12 bucks

blowing holes in the window sill and the old lady never found out, priceless! Lol

Owwwee! I thought mine was bad. Looks just like my F1 chrony

I was about 10-11 years old and my grandfather and I got those Crosman spring BB pistols that look like a .45 cal for Christmas. We ended up shooting most of the bulbs off the christmas tree. Apparently alcohol and air rifles are a bad combination.
-
HAHAHAHA I like your g-pa!
Daveshoot.... please tell me you REALLY didnt shoot and bustout thesliding glassdoor...
-
Lol I took out The double pain sliding glass door when I was about 14. Our dad made us put the target against the tree that was about 15 ft to the left of the door. We said it wasn't a good idea but he said to do it. So me and my bro were shooting and then I had the idea of hiding in the trees and taking a sniper shot. As soon as I pulled the trigger on that 760 pumpmaster the window turned white then fell to the ground. My brother looked at me and said oh $h!t your dead. I almsot ran away. Then we brain stormed. Hey we could just take all the glass out and see if they notice. Well dad came home in mid clean up and there was no hiding all that glass. Dad was actually cool about it because we man'd up and didn't try to hide it. If he only knew the plan. Lol
The other door I took out with a rock and my weedeater. That thing cought a rock and instantly took out the nice 300 dollar etched glass front door the wife was so proud of. My youngest daughter looked at me and said I'm telling moma. Little narc.

My brother in law put a real nice crease in his car by using it for a rest for shooting a high powered rifle one day. Just did not occur to him at the time that the actual barrel was a couple of inches below the scope.
And be glad that you don't have those new plastic framed windows in your house.

This provoked one of the only known sarcastic responses from shadow- and one of the funniest ever.

Love you bro hehe I remember that post. :) Ed

hehehe... I just about peed myself......

Had the Grackle in the cross-hairs and it started to walk, so I had to track it for a few seconds and squeezed the trigger. The air rifle coughed and the Grackle flew off...what he heck? Looked over the scope and saw a nice round hole in the aluminum window frame. It could have been alot worst...abit more right and I would've broken 4 panes of glass!!!! Applied putty and paint and moved that window to another location in the house....where the window is less used.
Btw, you can see the previous hits on the guides for the window frames. Since then, I've added a few more extra dents on that side and a few on the right side. Now, to avoid that, I put my elbow on my knee to raise up the barrel before scoping the critter.

We had just entererd the huntiing area and heard a near by rifle shot. My hunting buddy had just taken down his first buck. 10 seconds later a second shot rang out then a third and fourth. Now my curiosity had the best of me and I beat it through the brush and find my buddy pale and trembling uncontrollably. my first fear oh God he shot himself. I said are all right? He said yeah yeah. It is just the craziest thling. i dropped lhim with the .270 walk up and set my rifle down to get out my guttinng knife and the damn thing stood up. I pulled my .38 and fired right at its head and it just shook his head. I fired again and same result. Look dude I am 8 feet from him. I fired a third round and it snapped its head back and he dropped dead as door nail. I was trying to figure out what hell i was doing wrong. (guy is a excellent marksman especiallly open sites and blackpowder muskets). We started cleaning tlhe buck and all of a sudden my friend cries out "Holy crap I shot it with 2 rounds of bird shot. I forgot I loaded some birdshot rounds in case i crossed any Grouse Hope you enjoy the story but different in that the target was not the problem with ammo was. :D :D
