QUICK survey if you guys had to purchase a springer.25 cal mainly for hunting with a range no further than 40 yrds what would you get and why?? current air springers only and no pcp?co2. thanks fellas
-
it would be a Cometa Fenix compact 25cal would be perfect for that task and why not it a 19- 20 ftlb rifle, its a carbine, its light weight, exelent trigger, hammer forged barrel, exelent accuracy and sound moderated, 650 to 680fps range whats not to like!

Hmmmmmm, Beeman Kodiak. I bought my 6th Beeman rifle today...can't beat the build quality and reputation.

bsa lightning xl

Theoban Eliminator. More power = flatter trajectory. Gas Ram can be left cocked. Can still deliver fpe in the teens at 40 yards.
-
sweet any more?
-
the HW 95L looks nice. I do not have one though.
-
put me down for a Cometa Fenix Compact Star. (I hope Santa is listening)
-
looking at the fennix right now
-
anyone try the bam b-28 in .25 cal?
-
If you are saying out to 40 yards then the Cometa and BSA is out of the question. Spings are to light. Those two guns shoot best with .177 out to 40 yards. The B-28 maybe or RWS 350, but it would be a stretch...:) It would be more logical to pursue a PCP in a .25 cal rather than a spring gun... JMO

Gene, while I do respect your opinion, I will have to disagree with you........... The BSA may be too light to shoot at that range but I have seen the Cometas in action (in .22) and you can re-spring the rifles to get more juice out of them. My Brother and I routinely take game at long range with rifles that you and others think are "underpowered" and kill stuff dead right on the spot. As an example..... my BSA lightning is shooting a Crosman copperhead 14.3 pointed at about 665 fps or so and will shoot AA Falcon 13.43 pellets at a little over 680 and I have taken pigeons at 100 yds with that gun. As you and everyone should know.....shot placement is the key.... you get that pellet into the boiler room or get a head shot and the bird is going down. I would not hesitate to take a Cometa shooting in the 680 range with a quarter bore pellet and take a shot at 50 yds. if I felt confident of my shot placement..... but that is just me. The Cometa will shoot right through a rabbit at 50 yds. and I have witnessed a RWS 48 shoot stem to stern through a rabbit at 100 yds with pointed pellets.... don't underestimate the power these rifles carry down range

mark i just seen ur hunting post nice shot :emoticon:

Thanks Buddy I hope this helps answer some of your questions!

looking at the walther falcon .25 and the trail xl .25 i just want a .25 cal springer to complete my springer collection then on to hpa so far these are the two most powerful spring .25 cal
-
I believe your right!
-
after seeing how well my .22 trail XL shoots I think I'd give the .25 cal version a go :) if I "had" to buy one. To be honest though I'd much rather go PCP in a .25. If I ever do go .25 I think I'd buy a .25 Lothar/Walther barrel for my Air Force Condor :)
