Most fake guns have to gave some sort of markings...wedtont have a rim fire gun either.

I think it started out, so you could tell quickly if gun was a toy or fake! The AG instructions I have for mine say its concidered "not a toy" maybe thats it?

Gene is right. It is because the airsoft guns are replicas of real military weapons. Doesn't do much good because you can remove the orange cap but, that is the reason.

YES it is so the police don't cap your butt,they look very real, soooo the orange cap is a give away to them (I leave mine on,don't need shot when playing in yard)

so if i take a real one and paint the tip orange the cops wont shoot if i aim it at them ?

In todays world, I would not even think of doing that.
I saw a video on TV of an interview of a Secret Service agent who almost killed a dumb teenager who pointed a WATER gun at the president.
When things are happening fast, that orange tip is not going to do you any good.

The original idea by the manufacturers was great but I think if we take our shooters out in the public we better put orange paint on the tips of our barrels...:) I have seen allot of lead slingers that look like bad @&$ weapons and someone may call the law on us..:)

BY the law Mr. Gene that lead slinger is a weapon & can be used to cause harm.you & ezman an those cool take down's wish I'd bought one!!!where did you get that nice hand guard & shroud?

Well I just did alittle google'ing and it seems that criminals have in fact painted orange on real guns to help confuse everyone!! This makes it very dangerous because orange is now not always trusted a good idea used for bad!! Also, it may even create yet another law where its illegally to put orange on gun !! some areas insist that all toy guns are all pink, blue or orange etc etc...this may create even more rules to cancel other rules, go figure! ahh

That is a QB-57 .177 pellet gum...:) Made in China.. There are allot of these on the GTA.. Great gun to mod..

Jay that is a QB-57.. Picked it up new from I think South Summit Air Guns for about $60.00. I have painted it and added the shroud and muzzle brake which reasembles a flash arrestor..:) These guns are allot of fun to play with.. We have a couple other members with them and they have put up pictures of theirs..
The gun as you see it is complete with hand guard that come with it. On bottom of hand guard there is storage area inside for whatever...:) You can put your stash or money roll in there.. hehe.
