Had a few minutes this afternoon to run some numbers on my new Benjamin Trail NP XL1500. Ten round strings of each pellet. Here's what I have so far: Pellet AVG fps AVG Spread AVG fpe

I ran out of daylight and the chrony started getting errors so I quit. I have 3 more rounds to test and report on. Gamo Rockets 9.6gr, Crosman Premiere Ultra Mags 10.5gr and Beeman Kodiak Extra Heavy 10.6gr. After the chrony testing, I'll take the best 3 as far as consistancy and power to test for accuracy. I have already punched paper with the CPHP and CP Ultra Mags and both are accurate and consistant. I do have some Gamo Raptor, Gamo Armor Piercing and some Copperhead rounds but I'm not going to bother testing these unless someone really needs to know. I wouldn't consider hunting or target punching with these, I just have them in my collection.
My thoughts are that the difference in quality control is causing the wider spread as well as lower power ratings on some. So far, I'm impressed with the accuracy of theCPHP rounds but the Beeman Crow Magnums have a slight edge in a lower average spread and higher power out. Hope they shoot accurate. And I hope the other 3 heavier rounds will give a little better output. But, getting anything over 17fpe from a non-PCP .177 is GREAT in my book. More testing coming.
And again, I would definately recommend this gun if you don't mind a heavy and long AG. It weighs in around 10lbs (slightly less than the Benji SS) and is 49" long. I like a beefy firearm and the length doesn't bother me. The accuracy, awesome power and smooth firing cycle make this a choice piece of equipment in my book.

Wow, that thing has got to be cracking like a .22 rimfire at those velocities. I'd be willing to bet the Baracudas give you the best FPE and accuracy.

You would be suprised some of them don't crack as loud as the numbers show . i shot 3 or 4 rounds of raptors and they were in the high 1400s and one made 1510 now that sounded like a 22, they say it want hurt these nitro piston ags but it seems like dry fireing them i personaly don't like them. You can go back about 4 pages and see my chrony results and one mountain made a nice chart with the results iI don't seem to have enough sense to do that. But these are fine rifles and they shoot very hard. thanks david

Yeah, I was surprised at the numbers versus the noise. The 7.9gr rounds did crack from time to time but not very loud. I'm sure the PBA rounds would sound like a rimfire, another reason I just don't care to test them. Don't want the neighbors getting worried about what I'm shooting. I saw your numbers posted David. Good deal and thanks for posting them. Mine should back yours up to show what this gun will do.
