fix,

Just wanted to say hello to your dad, it's a real honor to speak to someone with his seniority and many years of experience. You are very lucky to still have him around. Best of luck...

Hay Paul,

GREAT SHOP, what are your plans for all that room !

I know how important it is not to be crowded in any work place, and man do you have it !!!

You could even put in a test range for when you have finished the tunes. Wish I had that much space.

Boy... I sure wish I had that much room. A guy that is mechanically inclined and that digs into" stuff "... especially lots of "stuff" never has enough room. Now that's room there.

May be old, but there's nothing wrong with history, especially if you can play with it and have your dad there . My dad's 83 too, but he's 1175 miles away. Still really active, builds bent willow furniture.

Enjoy,

Are the dovetails 45 or 60 degrees?  May pick up some cutters if they go on sale at enco or HF.

Cheers

Others have nicres shops, and much more tooling to play with, but this is my "get-away". Have only been in this house a year, but one of the things that I liked aboput it was the possibility of a little shop (and a place to get off to during one of my wife's "chick-flick" festivals).  50 or 60 years ago, there was back accesss to this property, and this was the old garage...now there is no back access and I've got room to play. Certainly not fancy...is air conditioned for the summer, heated in the winter.  I'll finish painting it, but the shamrock stays.

Sharp eyes might recognize those leaves shading the shed..a pecan tree..and there is no shortage of squirrel targets to go with it.

Lost all my tooling in Katrina, but have been slowly adding the things I really need and use.  BTW: the big dry erase board is an big help...diagrams, keep you numbers close at hand, etc.  The table was hidden up in the attic of the house...I've cross brased it with 2X4's (also loose in the attic) to get it stable and level.

For airguns, can open the shop door...open a shed dirctly across the way...and short range shoot (40feet) for sighting in and testing.  Indoors (the shop) to indoors (the shed) PLUS a LDC and I doubt the neighbors notice.

..does explain my tendency to get vel. readings at 7 yards....that puts the 'graph out in the open area between the shop and the shed.

Dial indicator has been useful...is a cheap unit, but seems to work well (suspect over time it will get less accurate).

Up in the rafters of the shop is a tube of carpet on ropes (stiffened with a bit of chicken wire)...can lower it to be in-line with the traget in the shed and the muzzle placed about 1 foot inside... which lets me get some vel. readings on non-LDC'ed air rifles without distrubing the neighbors.
