Well I know I will get flamed for this but.
I received my extreme about two weeks ago and put about 800 shots thru it of various pellets and have found so far the PBA’s to be the most accurate in my rifle (less then ½†group @ 25 yards) and I think I could do better after the new trigger comes from Charlie’s. I also put LEAPERS SWAT 4-16X56mm AO Scope with Accushot 1-Pc Mount on it.
Anyway here are the pellets I have tried so far.
Gamo match
Gamo hunter
Gamo master point
Gamo magnum
Gamo raptor
RWS superdome
RWS meisterkugeln
And some daisy’s
What should I try next?
And by the way my extreme kicks a lot less with the PBA’s.

Wecome to the forum Chuck. Me personaly I stay away from the PBA's, because they are too light and will not group well past 25yrds. Also too light of a pellet will not have enough pressure to keep the piston from slamming home causing damage. About all that I shoot now are the Gamo Tomahawks,Gamo Pro Magnums and Predators. At higher velosities flat and pointed pellets will not group well, so stick to round nose pellets.

Crosman Premier Domed 7.9gr (the ones in the browm box). If they don't beat the Raptors, I'd be shocked.

Welcome aboard Chuck.. The GTA forum is a bit different than other forums..:) We try to be progressive, helpful and understanding with questions about air guns..:) Not to say you may be teased once in a while because we all do it from time to time..:) We have alot of posts on pellets and also probably some on the Raptor's.. For close up target shooting, they may be ok, but for distance and hunting out past 25 to 30 yards you may find that they may not do the job for you. You know the ol sayin.. "Different Strokes Fer Different Folks" :)
Let us know how you are coming along with your new Gamo and post back question or help if you need any.. We don't bite here, just have alot of fun and help each other out and make new friends..:)

From what you posted, it sounds like your doing real good there. And I know that you'll love Charlie's Trigger, it has been the best money that I have ever spent !!! I couldn't believe the difference, but you'll see soon enough.

Well I might as well share my experience I have been going thru the last two weeks.
When I received the rifle two weeks ago I opened it up and ran outside to try it out and wow that thing is loud and kicks hard. The only rifle I had before this is an old Crosman 766 with a walnut stock I made myself. After I got back into the house I started looking at the rifle closer and realized that the wrong scope was on it 3-9x40IR instead of the 3-9x50IR. Then called the place I ordered it from and they told me to call Gamo customer service. So the right scope is on the way from Gamo.
Now for the experience with the scope I have on it now.

I installed the scope on the rifle and was shooting it when all of a sudden the shots where going all over the place and then I went to cock the gun again and it wouldn’t. Well I was looking at the gun and saw that the scope moved back on the gun and the scope lock or pin had broke and fell into the spring chamber. Had to shake the broken pin out of the spring chamber and put a bigger one in to stop them from braking.
Anyway I ordered all the pellets suggested here to tryout.

Alway's happy to welcome new member's, Welcome Chuck and it sound's like your tryng different pellet's to see what she really like's. Our fellow member's have mentioned some hunting pellet's and they are good one's. If you do any hunting be sure to post some pic's of your baby with her trophy or a hunt story. I've had really good luck with Crosman Premier hollow-points. I can get them at Wal-Mart for cheap too!

....you can get the brown-boxed Premiers (which are somewhat better) for less than the Walmart HP's. At Pyramidair, they are 14.65 per box of 1250, buy 3 get 1 free, spend over $150 and you get free shipping.
Last year I bought 16 boxes... 12 paid for, 4 free. Got the free shipping too. In the end, I got 20,000 pellets for $175.80.

That's a pretty good target for the PBA ammo. I wouldn't have expected such a performance from them. Out of curiousity I tried them when they first came out but found them to be very inaccurate at longer distances. I won't use them in any of my rifles due to the "piston slam" issue, but seems like they're perfroming well for you.

I have tried like 20 some different pellets in this gun so far and these are the most consistent over all and day-to-day with the Tomahawk second.
The recoil is like half that of lead pellets, why I don’t know.

Personally I'd feel better about using the tomahawk pellets over the extremely light weight PBA ammo. As for why the recoil you're feeling is 1/2 that of lead pellets I wouldn't have an answer for that.

Based on what I've read and what I've experienced with the PBA is that it will not form to the bore because it is so hard which maybe the reason for the lack of recoil. I shot them into a telephone book at about 10 yards and they did not deform one bit. Try JSB's Jumbos Crossman CPL's and some of the other higher end pellets which I'm sure have already been suggested.

I recovered a GAMO Raptor in the 2rd jug of water when I lined 3 up. Looked just like new besides the rifling marks on the skirt.
I receovered a a GAMO Rocket in the first jug (I had it lying down the long way this time, think clear tall bottles with the handle on the top). It mushroomed and released the steel BB. I've also recovered some fully mushroomed ones from my backstop with the bb intact, but they mushroomed to .30 caliber!

I'm assuming you sighted-in with the PBAs? I'd LOVE to see a sighted-in group of your best shooting lead too!
