I have a challenge for everyone.  Who can nail a standard thumb tack from the farthest distance.

I just nailed two with my CFX at 25 yards dead on.

Way to go Brian,

So that's some fine shootin your doing, heck, mighty fine shootin, so tell us a little about your CFX, like caliber, sights, tune/ no tune, trigger, humidity, :-) LOL

I might be able to keep up with you at 10 yards, but I don't think that I can see a thumb tack at 25 yards though ? Just gettin Old ! I guess.

Good challeng Brian.. I may try it at my normal distance of 40 yards if I can find the right color of tack..:) I am sure some of the other guys would have no problem hittin a tack at the distance you have set up..:) I keep my scopes set at the 40 yard distance and hate to re- adjust them .. hehe

Hmmm might take me 5 shots but I am sure I can do it with the B26-2 at 40 yards.

Beleive it or not and I am being completely honest I just nailed a thumb tack at 60 yards.  After guessing how much I needed to move my scope it only took me 3 shots.  I even got the whole thing on video.  Right now I am editing the clip slowing it down and working with the sound so you can see it really well.

Tried 5 push pins (becasue I've looked everywhere in the house and I don't have an tradtional tumb tacks)..this are about .346" in diameter. to make it worse, the push pins I found were clear.

Set up 5 at 25yards, pushed into a bit of scrap dry-wall.  Five pellets/five shots. Got 4 out of 5.Three must have hit the push pind dead on as it shattered the plastic head and left the little metal pin part stuck in the dry wall.  One got caught off center  and flung to the side.   Miss-judged the wind by a little bit and missed the 5th.

Ok, I found the tacks.. Put one  at 40 yards.. Took out my S1K. Fired a couple testers and loaded it up with a Superdome.. Pow. let if go. went to the board and all I found was the outer ring of the tack laying on the ground.. So I had a tack with no pin and it had a round hole in it....:) Where is my steak.. hehehe

Just kiddin.. hehehehe

Nope... it don't count. The tack must be intact. None of the tack with no pin stuff. Hell, anybody can hit the tack head. It's the tack pin  that counts....lol... :D  And da hole in da tack head don't mean nuttin' either. 8)

Try the same trick with a Finish Nail and see if you can drive it into the board it's stickin out of!

Me, my dad & little brother used to play games like this.

Some of our favorite ones were:

-Shoot through the center of a 1/4" Flat Washer (Scotch taped or glued to a piece of paper)
-Light the Match (neither me or little bro could do it. Watched dad do it a handful of times)
-Pick off the tooth picks
-40 yard buckeye challenge
-Drive the Finish Nail

All of us did this with open iron sights. No scopes allowed!

There's a whole BUNCH more games we used to play. Dad tried to get us into shooting early. Seems like the only one it stuck with was me.

Hey Sam, lets hear some more of those games you played. I tried that "match" game but burned down my wooden easle target stand. Just kidding! I'm still a kid at heart :p

Not a problem Greg!

These ones we used to play with .22 Rimfires, but I'm pretty sure they can be adapted  :D

-Pop the Balloon : Take small water balloons and fill tthem with air until they're the size of a golf ball. Do some that size, more about 50% larger and more 50% larger than those. Use  a foot and a hlaf long piece of kite string or fishing line and hang them from a tree branch or a target holder or whatever will keep them off the ground. Now here's the IMPORTANT PART! Make sure there's a slight Breeze! Makes the game funner & more challenging!

Big Balloons are 10 points, mediums are 25 and smalls are 50. Whoever has the most points after all the balloons are gone wins!

I'm not sure if this one'll work with an airgun but:
-What's that Song? : My dad took pieces of 3 diameter inch thick walled pipe, cut them to different lengths and hung them from their own holder. Some were 6-7 feet long and the shortest was about 9 inches or so. But when hit with a .22 each one was tuned for a different note on the musical scale. They were all painted different colors, each color corresponded to a note. Picture a vertical Xylophone or a HUGE wind Chime!

He made sheets with different tunes written out in different colored crayons. The objective was to hit each one & not miss. If you miss, it's the next guys turn.

-Chase the Rabbit :  (Takes at least 2 people) Drive stakes down in the yard at varoius different ranges and widths apart, now take a good LOOOOONG piece of twine and weave it through the stakes. On the end, tie a medium sized balloon with a small weight at the knot. One of your buddies has a hold of the other end.

Stand about 10 yards away from the balloon with your back to it. When your buddy says GO, turn around & try to shoot the balloon while he's pulling it through the stake course.

-Golf Ball Races : Take a few Golf Balls and place them 10-12 feet apart about 10 yards away from your firing line and see who can walk their ball out to the burm or edge of the range first. Easy game.

Now thats what I call fun Sam! Thanks for sharing  :D . I really like the golf ball race. Huummm. That could lead to a "how fast can you load your air-rifle and shoot that "target" ..thread? :) cuz .. I can't golf to save my life.. :0

It was fun as hell for us! During that time, we were living in Oklahoma, didn't have a TV or anything like that. Only stuff that we scrounged or made and LOTS of .22 shorts. Dad told me later on in life that he was "Preparing us to be able to feed ourselves and the family in the event that our situation never improved."   Good preparation I'd say.

But then again, just before he passed away he used to say "I do all my huntin at Safeway now a days." hahahaha  :D

Not to sound like a party pooper but be carefull with air rifles and golf balls. The ricochet like hell. I once had a pellet bounce back and hit me and the ball was placed 20yrds away. Another cool game is to get stakes 2 inches width and 1/4 thick. Draw a line and stick the stakes in the ground. All shooters start at the same time and the first to cut the stake along the line wins. This can be done at any distance. Even more fun when the distances get further and further away. ie: start at 10 yrds and get a winner then move to 15yrds then 20yrds. Make the stakes wider for magazined guns as they load quicker.
