Hahahahaha!!! Looks like an Updated version of a Punt Gun I saw a while back. It had an article that was with it that said it was used in Brittain (and some here in the states) for taking up to 200 Ducks at once. It had lugs on either side of it and was mounted to the bow of a small boat then fired at a flock of floating ducks.

Geeze Gene, that thing would take out a whole flock of Cow birds with one shot hehe!!
not to mention half the cows too. :D
