Please tell me how to post pictures.  I know the information is probably posted someplace obvious, but I have missed it.  Thought it might be in the library, but didn't find it.  Thanks in advance.

When you get ready to submit your new message, check the little box on the bottom that reads "Attach file after posting". Once you hit Submit, it'll take you to a screen where you "Browse" for the file. Look for it, select it, submit and Voila!!! There's your pic!

: Didn't work for me. BUT

The picture wouldn't work.  I got a message that the picture had to be 75kb or less.  I checked it and it was 385 kb.  How do I change it to 75?  I have Adobe Photoshop, but I'm just a duffer.

Thanks

Tex, what kind of camera program do you have on your computer?  Should have a tab for export when you bring up files of pics. Need more info at this point.

Well I was gonna look for a free image editor and put it in the Library so anyone could download it that does not have one. I normally post big pictures but the file size is generall under 50kb. I only use Photo Shop by Adobe. Been using it now for over 10 years, but it does alot more than crop and compress pictures.. Thanks J for posting the link for the editor. If everyone agrees that it is easy to use then I will put it in the Library..

Just let me know..:)

Not sure I understand what you are asking.

I download pictures from my camera using the Windows XP software (Camera is a Fugifilm 3800 - 6x optical zoom - about 4 years old?).  I usually limit taking the photos at I megapixel for forwarding on computer and the size is fine for that, but when I checked the picture I downloaded via "properties" it came up 343 kb.  I suspect that is because I downloaded it as a. jpg file.

I have "Adobe Photoshop" on my "puter", but my capabilities are pretty limited.  I know a picture can be resized, but that makes it much smaller in physical size and it sometimes requires several iterations (for me, anyway). I was hoping for a straight forward way of doing it.  I can also post via Photobucket, but that takes some "fiddeling" as well and the pictures only show up when "clicked" on (I think).

I will try to attached a Photoshop resized picture to see how it show up on the forum.

Thanks for any help - I need it!!

Regards
: That didn't work either!!

Hummm.  "Properties" said it was 56 kb but it still didn't make the trip.  Now I'm really puzled.

Bummer

If you use "Photoshop" which is what I have, what the heck am I doin' wrong?

When a p4 ee3.2ghz with 2gb of ram bogs down you know a standard pc is just gonna do the blue crash dance. Digital Photo Librarian will even run onmy old p2 400mhz with 256mb of ram and has a prettyeasy, fastuser interface also.

Most of the crop / resize / .jpeg quality edits I make are 30 seconds or less with this tiny program.Usually takes longer to type in the new file name whensaving the editted file . . . (http://www.getphpbb.com/phpbb/images/smiles/a_doh.gif)

Here is an easier program (I think).  I thought it was easier than trying to use "Photoshop" but your mileage may vary.........

Gene, if you think this is a easier program to use, maybe you could reference it in the library for others to use.

You can download it for FREE here:

Yeah, I hate to see something like that go to waste.  It's not mine and I am to lazy to start a project like that.

Thanks for the software tips.  I had the Info-View program already but was trying to us" Photoshop".  I think the Info-View program is easy to use and it is FREE.  It require very little memory.  See post down a bit.

Thanks

If you're using Photoshop, use the Navigation Box at the top right and zoom the photo to 100% then resize from there. That's what I usually do, after adjusting the brightness/contrast etc.

If that still doesn't work, click file & "Save a Copy" when you do that a window pops up and lets you save the picture in different quality for say 56K etc. It also has sliders for you to toggle from "Small File-Large File" I always slide it down to small file & it never hurts the quality.

: Thanks - Trying it
: Tex July 18, 2007, 06:34:01 AM
It definitely changes the quality of this photo though...

Thanks for the tip

I just load all my pictures to photobucket and when posting I copy the Html code and paste where I want it on the post. You can do the same with the Url and it will paste a link.
