: Prowling the New Gamo Big Cat (Review plus PICS)

Got my Big Cat and finally got a chance to do some quick siting and shooting. Pickedit up from Sportsmans Guide with a scope for about $100 after disountsand certificates. It is pretty much just like the Shadow Sport. My initial thoughts of the gunwasWOW this thing is light. Without a doubt it is because of the fluted polymer(plastic) barrel. It is very easy to manuever and carry however. I changed the synthetic stock with an 890 stock I had refinished. Nothing wrong with the synthetic, I am just more into wood. Of course it dieseled the first couple of shots but soon settled down. Cocking is not too bad; a little more effort is required than my 890's. There is some spring, piston noise while cocking and it shoots hard. Very much harder than any of my other Gamo's. It has the Gamo twang as I knew it would. And there is no need to comment about the trigger:p . I didn't use the stock scope, instead I used a 50mm BSA I had lying around. It did shoot pretty accurate out of the box and I am sure it will improve with time. I did notice it had a different breech seal than most Gamo's as seen in the pics. The seal at the breech is a hard plastic almost like a teflon or delrin type. There is asmall hard rubber sealon the chamber side of the breech. Gamo may have went to this because of all the problems with the breech seals on the Shadow Sports, not sure. I was able to shootacceptable groups out of the box with the gun. It likes CPL's as most guns do. It also does well with the Tomahawks, Crosman Destroyers, andCrow Magnums. It hated the Gamo Hunters however. The speeds on the chrony were pretty impressive out of the box. It shot CPL's atan average of 949.6 and Gamo Hunters at 976.3--not too shabby. I plan on changing the spring, piston seal, tophat, guide, and trigger along with honing and lubing. This should smooth it out and really make this a terrific shooter with great accuracy. Hopeeveryone enjoys the pics and have a blessed day.
