So, I come home today and open up my mail box and I was delighted to find a compact package from Air Gun Toys in SC. Gene and I had talked about a brake for my .177 CFX and I finally decided on what design I wanted him to craft for me. I wanted a satin black finish, ported brake. Gene had asked me what port configuration I wanted, I asked him to be creative........
I was very pleased with the product delivered. Well crafted and obvoiusly carefully machined from aluminum stock. The port configuration is very pleasing, increasing diameter ports from the back to the front. It is ported in three identical rows, both sides and on top. The ports are chamfered at the edges. The muzzle face of the brake is nicely recessed.
Installation was a snap. It took longer to get plastic Gamo brake off the gun. The Gamo brake removes by taking out the allen grub screw, it has to be completely removed, not just loosened. There is a set pin under the very forward, lower edge that has to be drifted out from right to left. Then slide the outer cover back on the barrel, tap off the inner portion of the brake and slide the outer cover off the barrel.
The Air Gun Toys brake slid right on the barrel, tightened up the included allen grub screw and off to sight it in. POI did change, and I expected this. Differences in barrel harmonics when adding or removing any barrel mounted accessory are to be expected. Didn't take me long to get it back to zero and it's back to ragged one hole groups at 10m.
I am very pleased with the brake, particularly with what it does for the asthetics of the gun. Much sleeker, more purposeful.
The pics below are not the best of quality and don't do it justice.

WOW! now that is sharp Stephanie, love the portholes too. The one I recieved from Gene is a fine addition to my CFX.22 but my POI didn't change at all. I slid it on, tightened it down and went up to my loft range to test just that, didn't even have to touch the scope. Gene does some fine work indeed. 8) Ed

BLING BLING. I'm not sure what I like more shooting them or looking at all the accessories to put on them. Gene has incredible talent. We all are lucky to have him in our family here at GTA. Looks Sharp and sleek.

Also ading a pic of my muzzlebreak on my CFX.

Well personally, I think it's ugly cuz it ain't got no gold trigger. We're gonna need to fix that. :D
-
I agree Bob. Both my CFXs and my Quest need one of those "hotrod" gold triggers on them.
-
JMLV, what rear sight is that on your CFX? I've been looking for one that would fit and be within the adjustment range without major modifications. Looks like you found one :)
Thanks

That's a Mendoza apture sight. I have them on a varity of guns and some do need a higher front sight to get the most out of then adjustability. Currently i have them on 2 R1's, RWS 24C, a HW35 as well as the CFX and my shadow supreme 22.

Thanks for the info. I did some checking and found them at Airgun Express web site. Does that sight work for you with the original front sight on your CFX?
Thanks again
