After several weeks of waiting and anticipation, today I have finally received the "Whisper" from Gamo that we all have heard so much about. I have not divulged up until now that I was expecting or that Gamo was shipping me one in the event that they did not have one available. There are only a few of them that have been brought into the US to date and Gamo did indeed send me one to get a first hand look see.
As most of you know, I am a strong supporter of Gamo and have been for years, long before the CDT trigger development and a great gun for the money spent in my opinion. In addition, in the last couple of years Gamo has improved their line of pellet guns aesthetically and in some ways internally also.
So what's next???
Well it is out of the box but still in the bag. I have contacted Gene and asked him to come here before I even open it up. At that time I/we will do an initial evaluation including inspection, pellet tests, chrony, trigger pull and the like. Nothing internal, stock out of the box. After that, I'll do an initial review.
The second phase will be to tear it down and see what changes have been made internally if any. I don't expect any drastic changes and to look at it (through the sack)...lol... sure doesn't say much. But like the old adage goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Most of us know that the Gamo, being a massed production item and like many other massed produced items, can be improved considerably. But as a mass produced gun that is in the price range and affordable to almost anyone, the Gamo is a gun that in my opinion is a great bang for the buck. It is also "a diamond in the rough". But even out of the box, most are pretty hard to beat.
Stay tuned

Waiting for the review Bob, all tingly inside and you and Gene get to hold it, shoot it WOW! :) Very interested in that sound reducer. Ed

Well Bob, you are absolutely correct about Gamo Air Rifles being a Diamond in the rough.. And if all my 13 Gamo's were actually big diamonds, I would be rich.. But I really know now that I started off on the right foot with my first air rifle being an Gamo S1K. I still have it as you well know along with 12 more Gamo's. I have mentioned many times here and other forums that with a little TLC and the GRT-III trigger they are as nice a air rifle to shoot as some of those $400.00 to $500.00 high end air rifles on the market. For sure I will not be sleeping real sound tonight in anticipation of tomorrow morning..

Hey Bob,
I'll be looking forward to that review ! Now if it only came in .20 caliber !
Thanks for getting one, so that we, at the G.T.A., can have the inside scoop on this baby !!!

I'm on the notification list at Midway, so when they come in, I'm ready to hit the "O" button. I guess I should go ahead and order another GRTIII form CDT, eh?
