, but what is PCP?
-
There are no dumb questions , PCP stands for PreCharge Pneumatic. , just like SSP is single stoke pneumatic( like a Daisy 7474 pistol or a953 rifle) , and MSP Multi Stoke Pneumatic ( like a Crosman 1377 pistol). I think I'm right; if not someone will point me in the right direction. We're all here to learn, at least I am anyway. kirby

What do you mean by PreCharged?
-
you have to charge it off a high psi hand pump or scuba/fiberglass tank. it stores the air just like a CO2 gun but at a much higher PSI rating and most of the time with fewer shoot perfill. Higher PSI = more velocity=more energy= a lot more used air. All the big bore guns that shoot the heavy slugs 200 grains up to I think 600 grains or all PCP. Now to get it to fire you only get 2 mamybe three full power shots. CO2 is limited by temp. Compressed air is not. I've seen a couple of QB's @ 850fps but it just eats up CO2. CO2 cost more to keep shoting PCP guns cost more to get into!!!!!

Good Job !! I think (there I go again) that CO2 guns are PCP's also , they just operate off of a gas (sometimes a liquid) instead of plain old air and at as you said, lower pressure . They both store the air (precharged ) until it is "metered" off for each shot . kirby EDIT: I'm sure J could shed some light on the subject.

OK, got it now. Thank you leftcoast1 and kirby999 for the info.

PCP actually means "Plenty Cash Paid" :)
-
I thought it meant Pretty Clever Person. I like them cause you have more chance hitting what you're pointing at and with a great deal of power. My Typhoons are pushing them out at 30ish fpe.

Some PCP's make for fantastic hunting rifles as well. With there accuracy and power it is hard to miss your prey... :D
