Kindly tell me what the differences between the two are. I guess these are being discontinued??
-
John, the 440 has a nicer stock and a better butt pad. I don't think they are being discontinued, just renamed.

Name changes and different names drive me nuts--nutsier.

If I remember correctly the 440 is now the 890s. They took off the sights and added a delrin muzzel brake. The GAMO PROS may chime in later. The stock maybe different but I'm not sure

I asked the same thing a while back, here was the answer:

The 220 has a plainer stock that is also shorter and generally not finished as nicely. Preferable for people with shorter arms. Also, there's no rubber buttpad, so the 220 might tend to slip around on the shoulder a bit.
The rear sights are also different... the sight on the 220 is actually superior. The top of the breach blocks are machined differently... on the 220 it's flat, on the 440 it's rounded, so the rear sights do not interchange.
The trigger guard on the latest 220's might be plastic, while the 440 is metal with sharp edges.
That's all I can think of...
I have the 220, and I love her. I happen to have one with a metal trigger guard, and I am planing on getting a rubber pad for my stock, so problem solved. The 440 is dirt cheap right now, so I would snatch one up if I could.

From reading comments over time, I am getting the impression that almost All the Gamo breakbarrels are the same, sort of like Chevy & GMC trucks, same guts, different bodies. The ones that shoot 1250 fps, are they just a heavier spring? Could someone that knows, please simplify an answer. Are Hunters related to Shadows, related to Vipers?

The 440 has a raised scope rail with indentations for a scope mount stop pin.

Thats what I heard, although I cant vouch for it, as I only have a hunter.
