: Critter Gitter rides again.

Once upon a time there was a Fair Lady who planted a garden. She loved her garden. But just as things began to ripen came the thieves. These thieves were a crafty lot. Their hit and run tactics left only half eaten tomatoes. Her efforts in trap and relocate met with only limited success. Soon the thieves learned to ignore the trap. (Bad move for them)
With her options running out. (Not to mention her patients). Off come the gloves, Fair Lady put in a call to “Critter Gitter” defender of gardens and feeders.

CG waited poised to strike as a thief entered the garden. He tracked him with his crosshair as the thief climbed the cage containing the helpless tomatoes. As the unsuspecting tree rat stopped to look around CG crosshairs settled on his noggin. A second later a 14.3 gn CPHP was streaking its way down the barrel at 602 fps locked on target 15 yard to its objective. There was a THUMP as the thief was knocked from his perch. Lights out, one for the good guys.

Not a minute later another thief approached, this one was stupid I think. He sat up right next to his late buddy and waited. He waited too long CG was now ready. With crosshairs
settling on his head , and a little squeeze of the trigger. This guy jumped straight up, when he came down there was a little twitch and it was over. That’s two for the good guys.

The feathered pest was caught running off the cardinals at the feeder. The Fair Lady likes her cardinals.

Meet the Critter Gitter: He is a Crosman 2289 with mods to the trigger, valve and piston.
He sports a Crosman breach and a 16 in barrel, and wares a 6X Leapers Bugbuster. He can push a 14.3 gn at 602 fps with 15 pumps.

It is best to keep the Fair Lady happy! Critters are such SLOW learners!

Excellent story telling.  I bought my airgun for exactly the same reason.

BTW, I hate this hobby!  I've been eyeballing those Crosmans and I expect I will have one in the very near future.

Thanks, just protecting the home front. I guess the saga will continue. There seem no end to the dangers that await.
: Question for Skip

Good shootin' on those thievin' turds Skip!  That's a nice artillery piece ya got there.
I just bought a 1992 Crosman 1377 since I had sold the 1377 and 1322 I had several years ago.
I originally wanted a 2289 (in .22?) but couldn't find one.

My question is:  My 1377 shoots an inch or so to the left at 10m and I have it adjusted all the way over.
I checked the outer edge and crown with a Q-tip for burrs and found nothing.
Any other ideas on this?
Anyone with ideas please jump in.

Troy thanks. I’m not an expert but I’ll try. The crown would be the first place to look, it may not be burred but some Crosman crowns are not true. You might try recrowning it.

This can be done with a brass panhead screw approx. 3/8 dia  head and some valve grinding compound. Put the compound on the screw head and turn it on the crown until all the lands are even.( lots of turning) This best done with the barrel off. Push a pellet in the muzzle skirt up about 1/8 inch or so to keep the compound out of the barrel. That may help.( I got the how to on another fourm)

The barrel band may be off center where the muzzle goes into it.

You did say you wanted a .22 cal  (2289) ?  If so you might want to just change the barrel. I believe you can order thru Crosman a 2289 barrel, bolt, barrel band, and sight.
The plastic breach is the same.

Critter Gitter started life as a 1377. If you want to try a new barrel let me know I still have the original and the barrel band. I will be away until the 19th. Let me know if you need it.

I hope this helps.    Skip
