no im not talkin about yer wife or girlfriends skirt diameter,i mean pellet skirt diameter.been studying the charts at straight shooters .skirt sizes vary from .175 to .188 .assuming bore diameter is .177,seems like it would make sense to shoot the largest skirt you can get to get better contact with rifling and better accuracy.does this make sense to anyone else or am i missing something here?

Sound logic Lynn. I think you also have to consider overall pellet design, shape and the thickness of the material in the skirt, how it will obdurate to fit the bore.

Lynn, all those pellets are on the heavy side. I'm curious as to what gun you are shooting them in?

Lynn, you might think about trying some mid-weight pellets like JSBs, RWS Super Domes, Gamo Hunters. These will all give you higher velocity, a bit flatter trajectory, and I'll bet one of those three will deliver superb accuracy in your 890. Another thing to consider is that a steady diet of heavy pellets, over 9gr., can be tough on the spring in the average rifle.

I second what Stephanie said, and will add that a Crow Mag will almost never shoot better than a round nose pellet at ranges greater than say 20 yards.  I've also found them touchy in regards to velocity, too fast and they tumble.  Superdomes or JSB Exacts would be my top choices, I usually get more power from the 'Domes, more accuracy from the Exacts.  Later.
