: My new QB-79 arrived
: p8ntballernwpa August 21, 2007, 02:53:48 AM

Came yesterday doubled boxed. I won it on another forum, it came with a Powerline adjustable scope. Haven't been able to shoot it yet, but hopefully later today if it stops raining. Its been raining for the past couple of days, but I guess it is good for the food plots I planted this year.

Later today I will putup some pics of it, it looks real nice and it is the first pellet rifle I have had that uses Co2 as a power source. I have a couple of brass eagle Co2 tanks that I never got rid of after I was done with paintball. One is 9oz and the other is a 4oz, pretty sure it is a four ouncer.

Oh is there anything major I should know about the QB-79 before I go out and put some pellets through it?

Clean the barrel real good before you shot it. And have fun shooting it.

Thank you both. Do I just run a swab through it?

Hi Jesse,
I just keep running through the barrel with my home-made fishing line pull-through. After about a dozen goes it seems a lot cleaner. I put a tiny drop of oil in the barrel then shot about two hundred pellets. Seemed to work OK :)
regards,
Alan :)

What type of oil?

I use a regular light gun oil. I think less is best. Lead is a good lube so you could just shoot lots of pellets through it :)

Can keep running patches through the bore (usually with a pull though) until you get all the ear-wax looking preservative out.

If you are mechanically inclined (and it's not a difficult job at all) can take the barrel off, give it a squirt of carb-cleaner, a few patches and it's done.

Either way, going to have to be sure the barrel is clean of the stick preservative before it will shoot well.

Very set. I just need to run a few more pellets through it and it will be good to go. I like everything about that little rifle. I am very grateful for the chance to win it.

I can shoot Gamo hunters and Predator pellets in a dime sized group at 25 yards. This is a real nice shooting rifle.
