This comp had to be postponed well more or less cut into two sections as to many people pulled out at the last min leaving not enough people to carry on with the competition, Too many people getting sick or claiming they hurt them selfs lol oh well it happens but not to me and my shooting partner we carriedon with the first part of the comp I will set a date for the final for the final round later in the month.
The reason I set it at this time of year was because it's much harder to get possums as their main source of food is gone and they tend to move deep into forests and dense bush lands making it a real challenge & I thought it was a good way to make it a real challenge and being winter it's cold out and it would sort out the real hunters I think it worked a little to well lol.
Anyways me and Andy had a great night I even beat my old record for peacock this bugger was huge much taller than me from head to tail and in length this one is bout half a meter longer than my old record & yes I took this big boy with my .22 CFX one shot straight up through the head it's the first big kill I have had with this gun and am very happy with it's performance to say the least.
We also took about 7 or 8 possums and on our way out we stopped at another little location I have and took another two but these two were hens.

Great shooting. Do you sell the feathers? Weird bird to be wild; no natural predators? Peacocks would tend to stand out in the wild, I would think. Again, congratulations.

Great shootin Sean.. And those Gamo CFX .22 can take the bigger game as well it looks like..:) You and Andy make a great team..
Do you eat the Peacocks and sell the feathers?

Nice hunt Sean, nice spread on that flashy bird too and as Gene say's the CFX.22 can drop the bigger game. As for me I live for those winter hunt's, snowdrift's upto 6ft., wind biting your face off and no one around except you, the varment's and MOMANATURE.Ed

Great account of your hunt Sean,
Beautiful Peacocks there !
Not too many hunters, are real hunters. Most just enjoy sitting at a warm cabin, drink hot coffee and play cards on those cold, cold days and nights..:)
Real hunters enjoy the union with nature, and the challenges it brings. And a good dinner that a successful hunt brings !!! Boy was I stupid or what ???

Thanks guys, As for the peacocks we only eat the hens but I give them to somebody else that skins them and does some traditional Maori stuff with them like cloak making N stuff well I think thats what they make.
