Hello all :)
My .22 cal AR2078 is able to punch through half an inch of ply-wood at 12 yards every few pellets. I find this a little disconcerting as it is my backstop! Time for a newer and thicker piece of ply. I do not have a chrono' but I wonder what sort of power it is putting out to defeat the half inch ply? Of course air guns in the UK are limited to 12ft/lb or below unless you have a license.
regards,
Alan

...think you'd be better to not have that gun tested. the average energy mihgt not top 12FPE , but one or two shots out of a strihg might....tankes about that to hole solid 1/2 plywood in .177 (less if it's weathered a bit) and about 14 to do it in .22. OF course, you might be cheweing your way though when pellets strike the same area again and again, but 1/2" plywood is pretty tough stuff for a one-shot hole.
ALso consider, pellets lose vel. at a pretty fast rate....so even if you are shooting at 10 yards, the muzzle velocity would be something like 20-30FPS faster.
