Got a 953 yesterday. Only got to shoot it a little bit but it looks like it keeps 'em in the 10 ring. Rear sight is a POS, after it broke I put a 5899 diopter on the gun. Now I've got to find a front tunnel sight with replaceable inserts like my 853 has.
All stuff for next week, I'm heading for the mountains where it's not so hot! :D

Agree...those glow-bead sights are too clkose set and way to coarse for good work.
Counterweight is gooved for a real sight..glow bead front is a plastic POS held on by a screw. Until I recieved a real front sight, I cut the bead off...slotted the plastic base....glued in a bit of black plastic...shaped that into a nice square post with undercut face. Worked fine...even with the "real" front sight in place now, I keep the moidified post at hand as it works BETTER in some light.

My 953 with the peep sight system from my Crosman Challenger 2000 works ok
But i prefer the Crosman 4x32 on it because of my 60 years old eyes
All depends on what mood i am in

I have a 953 with a charlie sear in it and the daisy diopter sight. It's a great indoor shooter. I made a silent pellet trap fot it. I shoot it at 7 meters. It has proably improved my shooting more than any other gun as I shoot it more than any other. It's Quiet and accurate.
I emailed Daisy and asked for some of teh but extenders for the stock. They ones from the 853 fit on the 953. Its a little ugly but it works great.
It's a good action and barrel. The trigger and sights need work. I picked up the dipter used so I have about $110 into it and it's perfect for wat it does.
The Daisy 717 pistol is an incredible indoor shooter if you can find one used. The 953/717 is a great basment shooter combo that wont break the bank.

Had a call in to Daisy In reference to my sight problem. A nice lady called yesterday & told me that I could cure my sight situation one of three ways:(1. Keep the 5899 diopter on the rear & replace the front barrel weight/sight assembly with the larger one such as my 853 has. (2.Replace the diopter with the one that has the rubber eyecup from the 753 & get the tunnel foresight that fits on the small barrel weight. (3.Replace nothing other than the open rear sight. I will always have that option as she insisted on sending a replacement rear sight because of breakage of the original part.
In reference to the 7x7 series of pistols that "Novitt" mentioned. I have used a 717 or 747 as one of my 'go to' pistols for many, many years. They are a wonderful pistol. They won't impress you with their looks but they put the hole right where you point 'em.

PS: I'm going with #1
EDIT: I called Daisy just now & they hadn't shipped my order yet so I was able to add a stock extender to my order. Without any problem I might add. I'm beggining to wonder who's outdoing who in the customer service arena. 8)

I was lucky enough to pick up a daisy 853 front and rear diopter sight. Works great. The heavier weight is nice too.
