i sure need some advice about rebluing some guns..i have no clue what to do.

Hey Paul,



That is a method of COLD BLUING, for bluing.



Hot Bluing requires you to boil your parts after the same cleaning process, then add parts to be blued into boiling water, and then placing them into boiling bluing salts.



It's a long process, that can offer great results, at times. Different metals require different concentrations of salts and temperatures, that's what makes it difficult..

The write-up I did was using Birchwood Casey's Perma Blue.

There's other blueing compunds on the market that do just as good or BETTER. I also like using Brownell's Oxpho Blue and this stuff called Blue Wonder.

With Oxpho Blue you can use the same instructions I provided. With Blue Wonder, it's TOTALLY different. It has it's own set of instructions. But it DOES work very well.
