So i've been browsing the forums and seen lots of threads with people talking about their tuned gun.  I know that tuning is basically where you open up the guns innards and, i guess, make everything better, but what exactly is done?  what parts are replaced?  etc.

Also, to those of you who have gotten guns tuned, what kind of differences do you notice (noise level, power, accuracy, etc)?

Finally, if i wanted to get a gun tuned, how would i go about doing that?

have you had your CFX tuned?  if so, what differences did you notice?

if not, had any other guns tuned?  how'd they feel afterwards?

Most springers have a loose guide ~ sproing ~ and are less than 100% consistant. In some the seal is damaged ~ smakksproing ~ and have very drastic velocity changes.

The kicker are guns withwrong lubricants, thin and volitile ~ smakkPOWsproing ~ fire and smoke, burned seal and broken springs {or MUCH worse} with no accuracy whatsoever.

After a tune, much different behavior ~thud ~ recoil is straight back, accuracyrivals a PCP, cocking is smooth and easy {exceptfor Genes' psycho magnum 1250} often able to shoot several pellets {sometimeswith better energy}exceptionally well.

That has been my experiance anyway {YMMV}and I feel very lucky to call Bob and Gene myfriends, and sometimes Fritz evenlets them have a couple of hours to hang out and shoot bb guns with me. (http://www.getphpbb.com/phpbb/images/smiles/a_goodjobson.gif)

It contains much information on types of tuning.

Tuning will make your rifle cock smoother, take some of the vibration out of your rifle when firing, take out some or most of the springtwang. Basically a good tune will make you rifle shoot smoother, and more consistent.

Tuning will make your air rifle smoother and more consistent shot to shot.

This will accomplish several things, among them it will help your air rifle last longer and should tighten up your groups.

Seriously, you will appreciate the difference. The only drawback is when it costs more for the tune than the original purchase.

Hey Kyle, I have three of the CFX's and after a good tune and CDT's trigger you will not find a better springer in its class for accuracy and all around smooth shooting. I can pick up any one of mine at any time and get 1" groups at 40 yards with no problem.
