let's see if this attach works...
Had these buzzing around the yard today.
Was tempted to take a shot but thought, nah they're too cool.
-
What kind of birds are they? Are they buzzards?
-
I love most birds because of there grace of flight and there beauty. I never attempt to kill one because of this. I would rather kill ground animals because they are so ugly..... :)
Turkeys are open .... LOL

they came out a little blurry because I don't have a decent telephoto on my nikon yet.
They're just big ol' buzzards...vultures.
-
Hello...
I think they are a Federal Protected Species, but I could be wrong.

...until the first time I encountered a California Condor.
One day I was riding my motorcycle on a trail that I'd traveled about a thousand times through a patch of newly forested clear-cut, and I stopped along the path to rest from the heat of the day.
As I sat, the sun suddenly dissapeared behind a shadow about fifteen feet long travelling along the ground.
It really kinda took me aback...I'm all like "WTF?? couldn't be an airplane, no noise.
then I hear this big "foof, foof, foof" sound, as I could seemingly hear the air pass through each hackle of it's enormous wings as they sliced through the air. It flew so close to the ground, that I could almost reach out and touch it.
...and as quickly as it had appeared, it was gone.
The very next time that I went to take a ride on my favorite trail, there was a huge red sign across the path that said:
"KEEP OUT!! THIS LAND HAS BEEN CONFISCATED BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA UNDER THE ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT!!" : (

they are fairly majestic looking...enormous wingspan, but they can gain heigh extremely quickly.
Plus they clean up dead animals...what a crappy biological niche =D
-
Nice looking birds, i dont really like to shoot birds unless I'm told to or they are just being a plain old pest.
I tell ya guys if your ever on holliday in New Zealand pay me a visit i will take you out for some big critter shooting.
-
Hello,
If you shoot one of these things, make sure that you put it down - to - stay, because when injured or scared they start regurgitating everything. It is an experience you will never forget...

Actually, they are Turkey Vultures, and are classified as raptors, which automatically carries Federal protected status. Uncle Sugar tends to whack people hard when/if caught shooting raptors. What I don't understand is that sea gulls carry the same status. Where I grew up, they're as common as flies, and even more obnoxious. My suggestion--look but don't shoot!

Yeah I wasn't *that* tempted. Plus they were cleaning up the ground hog I had nailed a day or two earlier. His hold is right below that roof they are perched on. Had a nice blood trail right up to it as a result of my *_*_*_*_*_* poor shot placement.
