: Good gun light...

At a fairly decent price.  It's called an "LED Lenser" by Coast something, cost $40 at the Home Depot.  It's part of their tactical series, barrel is 1" in dia. (yes, standard rings work), knurled black aluminum, switch on the back.  This thing is bright enough to clearly light up my pellet trap at over 40 yards.  Works great on my Talon.  For those of you that have CFX's, don't forget the mounting rail on the bottom of the muzzle brake, it's a standard 11 mm dovetail.  For the rest of you, you're on your own :-).  Just thought I'd pass this on.  Later.

I purchased a Dorcy Spyderlight which works pretty good but a wide beam. I also purchased a Browning Black Ice which can focus the beam--better but not as powerful. I got them for a Talon which I just received. I guess I will check out Home Depot this morning on the way home.

Yup, got the pellets, Gene, no worries.  And here's a pic, as requested :-).  Is that a cool grip, or what?!  Disregard the white areas, I'm tweaking the fit a bit, and still haven't refinished it yet (Sorry, Dan!).  But I think it's about there, so maybe today.

John, as I recall, this light is rated at 60 lumens.  The focus isn't adjustable, but it throws a fairly narrow beam.  The light itself is the typical LED blue-white, so it really lights things up well.  Like I said, it's easily bright enough for bulls eye shooting at 40 yards, so for night time marauders, head shots should be no problem.  I haven't checked it at longer ranges, I only need 40 yards or so for my purposes.  Hope that helps.  Later.

I saw one at Lowes which was a 60 lumens I think but had a focusable beam for about 10 dollars more. Then I saw the one I think you are describing at home depot 65 lumens I believe for about 40 which seemed to have a fairly narrow beam, but you really can't tell in the store. I did like the fact that that these could be tested through the packaging, however  I could not see how well the focus beam one worked. They also had one much less powerful with red and white light. Last night I did see that the Browning I had on the gun was OK at 25 yards. The big problem is the muskrats are almost always in the water for the shot and none of the light illuminate the water very well. Hopefully the laser will help. I need moonlight.
