I miss my Beeman R7 . I still have my HW30 but it's not the same. I've taken the trigger assembly out of the HW30 at least half a dozen times to polish it up and it's way better than it was when I got it (at least 5 lbs less) but it 's nowhere near what my R7 was . The only thing I didn't care for on the R7 was the stock(same problem with the HW30) feels smallish and doesn't have enough cheek piece to it to do any good. When I'm sitting resting on my arm, field target position, my face is completely off the stock. But I can still shoot sub inch groups with it at 20 yards . Imagine what it would do with a better fitting stock. I got my HW30 out this afternoon and over a hundred pellets through her ; it was nice not having a sore elbow and shoulder when I finished . I think I could have shot another hundred. I've got a Goldfinger R9 on it's way ; I hope I don't get it and wish I'd bought another R7 . Hey, why not both? kirby

I've been looking at getting an R7 but want to do a complete overhaul and get a custom stock from Steve C. Hell Kirby buy both never hurt to have a 7 and a 9!!!! :)
-
I've never let one go, just can't seem to do it. As for having both a 7 and 9,,,,, I agree,,, go for it.. Although, I know you're gonna fall in love with the Goldfinger you have on the way :)

I absolutely love my HW30, no way I would sell or trade it. It shoots little, tiny one hole groups every time I shoot it and is very often my go-to gun for pest birds. I have a 3-9 x 32 AO Bushnell Sportview on it in a B-Square Airsport one piece mount.
I think I got luckier with the trigger on mine, it was a bit stiff during the first part of break in, probably 3.5-4.5 lbs. It has lightened up, I'm guessing 2-3lbs, now, very smooth, very crisp.
I know it is probably limping along at 600fps or so with 7.9gr CPHPs, but it always drops grackles out of my trees at 15-35yds. The bonus is that it is very, very quiet.

In the last 15 months, I've owned 7 different spring rifles ranging from an IZH 61 to a Beeman HW 77, although my first and last were both CFX's, a .177 and a .22. Also a Crosman 1377. I currently own one rifle, a Talon SS with a 12" .177 and a 24" .22 barrel, and I gotta say, I really don't miss the others. Guess I'm just lazy, springers are too much work for the power. One of my springers was an RWS 350 .22, best I ever got was just under 25 fpe with it, and it was a bear to shoot. I was playing with my Talon last night, with my 12" .177 barrel, I was getting just under 24 fpe at one point. And that was NOT a max power set up. Hard to argue with the Dark Side :-). Later.

Wow Stephanie ; you did get a good one. My HW's trigger felt like it was dragging on a rub board for the first stage , then it took almost at least 8 or 9 lbs to get it to break. I think I just got a bad one . I've heard other folks speak of their being a little heavy but never like the one I got. I don't think I can get mine much lower without changing the sear spring , and I'm afraid to open up that trigger housing , I'd never get it back together. I've heard you can buy a Rekord trigger complete and drop it into a HW but you loose the safety. I may see if I can find one, with a single shot , it wouldn't bother me to lose the safety. I wonder if all of the Rekord triggers are the same? would a R9 trigger fit a HW30? Jason; you have the same idea I was thinking of . I'd love to have a R7 in one of Steve's highly figured walnut stocks , with a stippled grip and forearm. Hummmmm........when I send back my TX I might just have enough..............kirby

Can't let the gal's go, just buy more hehe. :) Ed

I think it depends on what you're looking for in an airgun. If it's power , I'd personally never buy a spring gun for a lot of power. I'd go strait to a PCP and never look back . But raw power is not that important to some folks . me for one. It doesn't take a whole lot power to punch a hole in a piece of paper or knock down a steel target. kirby
-
I don't own a PCP yet hehe but all my springer's do one thing very well, hunt!. :) I have a few CO2's that do well also in the hunting department, I don't need a ton of power when I strive for shot placement. :D Ed

I like his skeleton R 7 stock in walnut. It would be a nice piece to my little collection of never sell.
-
When I have a need for power , I'll use a rimfire. a subsonic in a long barrel bolt action is quieter than most PCP's and it has 76fpe. "IMO" an airgun is a short range tool . kirby
-
Although I've got this thing for walnut, that brown laminated AW looks sweet. kirby
-
I should have never posted this , it's making me want another R7 even more. kirby

I think you did get a bad trigger Kirby. I'm fairly certain that the Rekord trigger group is the same, no matter what rifle it is in. As I'm sure you are aware, there are HW30s sold with Rekord triggers in them. Get a Rekord trigger and you have an R7, same rifle except for the trigger.
I'm not sure on the safety function, bummer too, I actually like the resetable, rear mount safety on the HW30 better than the side button safety on the other HW rifles.

The HW30S come with the Rekord trigger and are sold in Canada . They also have an all weather one that looks sharp with a stainless steel barrel and black stock. And a model that's similar to a Goldfinger without sights but comes with a muzzle brake. You can order them here http://www.canada-shops.com/Stores/siarms/c134204.2.html yea I know another candy store . kirby

see below.....hehehe I've been a bad boy. I've got to stop one day. kirby

I don't know if you have seen them or not, but if the stock was the worst part of your R7 then take a look at this:
Steve is making them now and they are sweeeeeet!!! I was gonna buy an R7 just so I could get him to cut me a stock for it.
On the subject of "missed airguns". I had an RWS M92 (aka Cometa 220). It was maybe a $100 gun, youth sized, a bit twangy, and I never even lube tuned it because I could shoot one holers all day long with it. It was my first real break barrel adult air rifle and one day I got stupid while selling another 7-8 guns and put that one up for $70 I think...duh me! I still miss that one and wish I still had it....it was just a pleasant gun for me to shoot. Shot in the low 700's in .177....stupid, stupid man I am.
