what would be the slowest  foot per second  to kill the North American tree rat " gray squirrel "reason being that my father wants to borrow one of my guns but there is no way he is getting my viper Ill  lend him my gamo carbine 640 it is a  sweet little shooter dead on at 20 yards, but don't know if it will kill them humanly,
: Conclusive numbers? Not sure . . .

Can say however, {before I found out it couldn't be done(http://www.getphpbb.com/phpbb/images/smiles/a_whatsthatyasaysonny.gif)}the gun thatI used to take the most SC greys withwas an old open sightcrosman 760 pumped 5 or 6 timesbetween 5 and15 yards. Probably just under 500fps with the old daisy pointed pellets {now sold as gamo pointed} but no over penetration since never found any exit wounds. Very rarely required a follow up shot, either.
Headshots would just knock them right offa treeusually without a twitch . . .(http://www.airgunhome.com/agforum/images/smiles/ahhhhh.gif)

You only need 4 fpe and good shot placement to take a grey. It equals out to no less than 500 fps when it reaches the target with a 7.9 grain pellet. If you gun will shoot 7.9's at a least 640 fps technical you should have enough energy out to 50 yards with the right shot placement for a umane kill. Thats just the math part of it do some testing of your own to be sure.
