I like the turkey skulls!

How are you getting them so clean? Boiling then bleaching?

Great collection, Ed,

I'll knowwho to ask, if I need a little "head", or some "tail" :-)

But allkidding aside, very nice collection, buddy !

I used to boil off the meat, then soak them in lie until bright and shiny...

Hehe Jeff, I use them to study skull structure and pellet damage. Good to know this when I'm placing a shot at em. Ed

I gotta move to wherever it is Ed lives.

There are plenty of grackles and starlings right now where I'm at, but they hang out at the municipal park across the street. None of them want to come over and play anymore.

Squirrels? There's one... he hangs out at the other end of the block.

Groundhogs? I wish. Although there is a prairie dog town I could possibly get access to...Hmm, I wonder if my wife would like a prairie dog skin coat this winter?

Excellent skull assortment. Reminds me too of the Predator movies. Some people are freaked out by this stuff, but I think it is fascinating.

You might already know this, but it's worth mentioning in case you are curious. A friend of mine has been collecting skulls since we were boys. He has any animal you can think of, including elephant skulls. When he gets a new head, he uses his special colony of Dermestid beetles to clean them. Sometimes he doesn't have to do anything to it, except drop it in the beetle enclosure, and two weeks later it comes out bleach clean. You can actually buy these beetle kits online now, but I have no experience doing it.

My favorite skull is the wolverine. It is like a miniature bear skull. We have spent hours studying the skulls, him much more than me, since he has the collection in his house. Haven't seen him in a while since he lives in Alaska now.

I have a skull here.. its of a squrrel who died in my yard from natural causes... ( I usually shoot them in the noggin so a "skull" is kind of useless to try and keep) But I waited for it to rot out and let the hawk here have a meal. Grabbed the skull and set it on the window sill outside and bleach in the sun :)

Nice and white now, kinda cool

A bit off topic, but since someone brought it up; is the Predator vs. Terminator worth buying at 5 bucks?

I've got the rest of the Terminator/Predator movies, and this one would round-out the set, if tolerable.

ok can Shadow or someone tell me which sculls are from what animal?
I see a lot of beaks but I 'm not sure if they 're birds or turkeys..  I also see different skulls on that wooden board that might be squirrel and 1 possibly groundhog.

I think that's a pretty neat display and the first thing that came to my mind was the movie Predator too!

I only recently got back into airgun hunting after ~20yrs of using firearms.  In just 3 weeks with the Diana 350 .22 I 've gotten 3 groundhogs with a single shot to the head/neck and 4 squirrels that dropped in place (not that the groundhogs moved more than a couple of feet).  There 's not much else left to shoot now..  I guess I 'll do some more target shooting but this is not a fun gun to plink with.  It's a heavy hunting rifle and target shooting doesn't last long too long with this gun.

Ok, from top left to right. Turkey, squirrel,G-hog,turkey. Bottom, turkey, squirrel and the lineup of bird skull's are Grackles. On some of the varment skull's the lower jaw is missing, it's connected to the upper close to the sweetspot and when a Predator hit's that area it shatter's bone. One of it's intended purposes hehe.
