Is there any sort of "cheat sheet" dictionary for some of the terms and nicknames used for things on this site? I have noticed browsing through the forums that many people use nicknames for rifle components, targets, etc., and for a new guy like me its a bit embarrassing to have to barge in a conversation and ask what everything means.

We had to do it on the car site I belong to, and it helped the new people out immensely.

*oops, I just realized this is probably the wrong location for this thread- sorry.

You can start with the Library at the top.  There's a lot of good info there.

Here are some other links that may help:

A lot of duplicates to the Library but good info

This page has a lot of the definitions you might want

Another good source

It's a start.

What you need to "button" your piston, "tar" your spring and polish your sear?  BTW, what sorta lead do the girls in your stable like to eat?  Bring that new gal over and we'll both give her a good lube tune!  Whoah, that's the biggest "LDC" I've ever seen!!!  Or maybe your stable is empty and your finger is trembling around the "order button"?

It's terrible trying to figure some of this stuff out.  After a couple years in the sport I can say I finally have a handle on most of it, but you're right, there SHOULD be a dictionary.

I'll figure it out eventually.......you'll just have to put up with a few obvious questions for awhile.

thanks-
