Looked out into the backyard this afternoon just in time to see the squirrel that's been emptying my feeders and he was at it again. Had to do something about this matter........
Went down into the basement, grabbed the camo B-3, a couple of GAMO Magnum pellets and snuck out the basement bilco doors into the backyard. Poked my head around the corner of the house very carefully but he spotted me. Our eyes locked for just a second then he suddenly turned and high tailed it to the biggest oak tree in my yard.
I lost sight of him so I just sat down on a yard bench and waited. As I waited I started scanning the entire tree, branch by branch. Had visually worked my way half way down the tree when all of a sudden I saw just the wisp of tail protruding past a thick branch,,, there he was.......
I maneuvered into a position where I could see half of his head,, this was good enough. Range was 20 yards. Put the crosshairs between his eye and ear and squeezed the trigger on the B-3. Heard the pellet strike home with a loud "POP". The squirrel instantly rolled off the branch and hit the ground. One or two twitches and it was all over. The camo B-3 had done herself proud once more :)
Snapped a couple of pics, cleaned the tree rat and placed him in the refrigerator for tomorrows lunch...

Fantastic shot Jeff, right in the fusebox, super pic's of that fine camo B3 and her harvest. That is a super job that you did with the camo and were trying hard to show that the B3 can hunt. Ed

Hey Bryan,
Did a complete tune and lube on it. Also swapped the leather seal for a synthetic seal. She turned out to be a great shooter and hunter. I have 3 B-3's that I tuned but this one is the most powerful of the 3.

So Jeff, how was lunch today? ;~) Great shot/pic/story, as always.
I think I need to put up a bird feeder so that the critters will have a reason to come within harvesting distance. Maybe that's why I don't have any starlings...

How does a squirrel taste and how do you cook it?
-
Tell em' Jeff-Da-Chef... go ahead and tell em how to fix em. Jeff really knows about cooking wild game.... and he's gonna open a shop before long so Gene and I can git somethin to eat. I can see it now... possum dogs...lol...

Hey Harry,
Lots of ways to cook squirrel. Fried, barbecued, stew, slow cooker, the list goes on and on. One of my favorite ways to eat them is real simple,,,, fry up a bunch of bacon, quarter up the squirrel into pieces, give the pieces of good coating of seasoned flour and fry em up in the bacon grease until they're golden brown. Nothin better,,, my two favorite foods all on one plate...... bacon and squirrel.
If you're concerned about the cardiopulmonary factor associated with the bacon grease you can of course use whatever oil you think is best for you.
Sometimes simple is best :)
As for opening up a restaurant specializing in "critter",,,,, if it ever happens I'll make sure Gene, Bob and Ed are the first ones invited :)
