Had time today to get in a pest hunt at the duck farm for the last couple of hours of daylight. Weapon of choice for this hunt was my newly acquired Crosman G-1 Extreme and crow mags. The rifle still has the stock trigger in it but I have a CDT trigger on the way :)
Got to the farm, drove down the dirt road to the breeder farm and parked the truck in my usual spot. I got out of the truck looked up and saw about 15 starlings perched on the old telephone pole 30 yards away. Popped in a crow mag, set the range on the scope and pulled the trigger. The gun fired, I heard the pop as the pellet hit, I even saw feathers floating in the air, but the starling took flight and headed north flying pretty strongly. I'm not quite sure what happened, I guess I just didn't hit him in the right spot. Oh well.
I went into the barn that is adjacent to the telephone pole, set up my backpack seat near a window and waited for another batch of starlings to land. Took about 10 minutes but finally a small flock of about 30 birds landed. I put the crosshairs on a fine looking specimen, pulled the trigger, heard the "POP" and the bird just rolled over on the wire and plummeted to the ground. That was more like it :)
I stayed at my post for another 20 minutes or so but the birds just weren't landing anymore so I decided to head over to the main farm and still hunt around the edges. I still hunted the perimeter of the main farm for about an hour and even though I did see 2 G-hogs I never got another shot. I made a slow stealthy stalk on both G-hogs, but they both busted me just before I got within range. Oh well, I had fun making the attempt anyway.
I finished out my trip by enjoying a short target session shooting at pine cones clinging to the branches of a large dead pine. The accuracy of the rifle still impresses me but I know it will be alot easier to shoot accurately once I pop in that beautiful gold trigger !! :)

Great account of your hunt Jeff,
It sure looks like your feelings of the G-1 were correct ! She sure did her job today. After you dress her up with a GRT-III GOLD Trigger, I'll bet she sings !
Great shootin there Jeff, I await the next chapter in your Adventuresin AirGunHunting...
