I saw what looks to be a decent tripod at a low price online at Geeks.com (mostly computer-related stuff):

It's got a quick-release platform, and quick adjust legs, which could be useful at the shooting bench. I can't vouch for it 100% since I don't have one, but for $8.50 (plus shipping), it might not be a bad deal, especially if you were ordering other stuff from them.

Actually this appears very similar to one on sale in Radio Shack for $7.99, under the Targus name. I just got one of those!
