Nov. 2,after work ,i decided to fill freezer with venison,went to my treestand,at about 4:30pm,i watched 2 squirrels feeding in tree about 15 yds. away from me ,at that point,i wished i had my HPA2250,but then reality set in and i watched a good 10 pt walk towards me ,but just out of my bow range,he never seen me or busted me ,so as he walked off i grunted with my grunt call and he just kept waking away,sometimes they will act like they dont hear and then circle back. About 6:00 pm with light fading ,i seen a buck heading thru brush staight to me as he cleared under brush,i drew bow back about that same time he looked straight at me ,i let loose about 30 yds. later ,i heard him crash. He was not the big buck,that i thought came back,but a nice 165 lb. 8 pt. .

Good on ya', Paul! I lived in Annapolis and Hagerstown, MD for a bit.
I saw a nice 8 point buck today...dead, just off the road, with the Honda Accord that hit it. The entire left front of the vehicle was smashed, as was the windshield, on that side. Luckily, the buck didn't crash through the windshield. Two officers were standing over the buck, and I don't know if they put it out of its misery, or it died from the impact.
In '96 I had to stop for 5 deer (single file) when they crossed (of all things) the interstate, just south of Bella Vista, AR. They slowly walked across the road, in no hurry, ignoring me. The story doesn't end there. A vehicle around a quarter mile behind me, didn't see me, or the deer crossing, and he rear ended me at around 70 mph. I managed to swerve a bit off the road, but he still caught my left rear, and spun me like a top. Totalled the car, my RC gear in the trunk (had a gallon of glow fuel, nitro and methanol mix which was flung 30 yards from the vehicle, undamaged in its jug).
The trooper couldn't believe there were no skid marks, and I told him he never saw me stopped, or the deer, and I tapped my brake many times before he hit me. Witnesses said the deer scattered when I got hit. The guy that rear ended me, wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and was injured, badly. He can't drive now. There is an ironic twist, here. He brought a DVD player to my office/electronics lab, for repair years later, and he didn't recognize me, (his face was hamburger at the scene, and he couldn't see) but I knew who he was. His wife was with him, as he doesn't drive. I asked some questions (nicely), about his disability (they both didn't know me, as his insurance settled with no court case), and while I'm sorry he was disabled in the accident, I didn't get out unscathed either, and I could feel some anger bubbling to the surface about it.
It's odd how seeing the dead buck and smashed Honda instantly brought back that memory, and I'm sure everyone has a story or two involving hoofed forest rats, including some motorcycle riders.
