I was looking out into my backyard towards the woods behind me and noticed 4 squirrels working their way from branch to branch in the large oak trees. As I watched I also realized that the light rain that had been falling all morning has stopped. A smile came to my face. I ran down into the basement shop and grabbed the trusty Camo B-3 and a couple of GAMO Magnum pellets. Out the bilco door and started working my way slowly to the end of my property line. By the time I reached the wood line the nutters still hadn't seen me. :)
Leaned up against one of the large oak trees and waited. Didn't take long for one of the nutters to work his way into a "firing solution". I hadn't moved a muscle and he didn't even know I was there. Distance was 15 yards. He was clinging onto a fairly thick branch so all I could see was the outline of his back and tail but as he turned his head to look around he gave me a perfect profile shot. Crosshairs were placed just under his chin, trigger was pulled and I was greeted with that wonderful "POP" that means lunch was about to fall to earth. Sure enough, after the impact he clung on for about 2 seconds, let go and bounced off a couple of limbs on the way down. the other nutters took off for parts unknown, but I know they'll be back... :)
Proudly took a couple of pics of the camo B-3 and her kill. Right after I got the nutter cleaned and in the freezer the rain came back again, but at least I got in some hunting before I have to head off to work at 3 pm. :)
