: NEW SHROUD FOR OLDER R7
: November 15, 2007, 04:04:33 PM
Just installed a new custom aluminum shroud from AirGunToys for an older R7.  Thanks Gene -- it fits and looks great.  Was concerned about accuracy after installing the shroud, but if anything it is improved  Had a satin black finish applied and I like the feel when cocking.  See attached pix.   https://plus10.safe-order.net/keziahoriginals//AIRGUNS/R7%20SHROUD.jpg

That is one beautiful rifle you have there, and your new shroud makes it look GREAT !

The Gene at AirGunToys does beautiful work, it makes it look like a bull barrel, very nice.

Thanks JIm and  guys for your kind words.. I have done a couple of these for the R-7's and they seem to work out great. The muzzle end of shroud ends 1/32' in front of the muzzle. There would be little or no POI or POA change. These shrouds are made with 6061 tubing and solid round aluminum stock. I am going to try doing some anodizing on my custom muzzle brakes after the first of the year. If that works out then I will be doing some of the shrouds as well.

I would like to thank you all for your support as well. I love making these bling blings..:)

Sharp looking R7 , nice work Gene. I have one of Gene's toys (shroud) on my R7 but I'm waiting to show it off it when my custom walnut stock (Steve Corcoran) gets here. It should be here by the end of next week. I'll be posting pics then . kirby

Thanks for the nice comments.  Most of my shooting has been 22 LR bench rest (ARA and RBA).  The R7 was received in trade from a rifle club member.  It is now on the front row of the safe next to my expensive custom 22LR bench rifles and just as appreciate.  I also have a HW 97 K Centennial that I purchased new about 8 years ago.  ( We have a local Beeman dealer).  The R7 has renewed my interest in air rifles and appreciation of the HW 97.  The 97 is very accurate, easy to cock and very smooth shooting, but only measures 680 fps over a chronograph with 7.9 Crosmans.  A HW 77 clocked 866 fps on the same day and same chrony.  Were the Centennials tuned down?  I have not found much info on the Internet.

Should these questions regarding the HW 97 be posted under a different topic in the forum?
