Is there a method or technique for putting a new apex seal on the piston of my 220?
or is it as simple as just popping it on?
Ive only got one shot at this and I want to do it right.
thanks

Sometimes they can be a bear to get on. Make sure you have polished up the edges of the dovetail, so that there are no sharp edges. I always put a cup of water in the micro heat it up and then drop the seal in for about 30seconds, that will soften it up, so it should pop right on. HTH and any more ?'s just ask.

Use one of those razor blades that are found in box cutters. Tap it between the seal and end of piston with small hammer. Then take a small flat screw driver and pry behind the razor blade and piston. That is the best way I know of...:) Do not nic the flared end of seal retainer on piston. Make sure you put a tiny bit of clear lube on inside of piston seal before you slip the new one on. After it is in place and looks seated then make sure you turn the seal back and forth on the piston to make sure it is seated well..
Hope that helps and makes sense..:)

mounted mine an interesting way yesterday. easy as pie. find a rod that is the same diameter as the top of the dovetail. make sure the edges has no sharp points. put the seal(nice and wet from silicone) on a hard flat surface. lightly tap the rod into the seal. you will see it stretches nicely over the end of the rod. then just line up the rod and top of dovetail and slide it over the dovetail. worked like a charm.
