I came across this tutorial on recrowning and wanted to get some opinions on it.
I really like the "look" it give to the buisness end of the barrel.
I guess what I want to know is, while this demo is done on a Turkish Mauser
Is there any reason I couldn't or shouldn't do this crown style on my 220?

I was wondering that myself.....Do you think the thinner outer barrel would be less able to take punishment ?

The only thing I can guess is that, since he's crowning a Turkish Mauser barrel (or at least a barrel that's used in a T-Mauser action), the steel for that is a bit harder than the steel in our airgun barrels. Let me know if that sounds all wet-- I hate to spread vicious rumors ;~D

The carriage bolt method is one that a lot of people have used with pretty good success. Some folks recommend a brass bolt. Steel will work, just don't use a very hard, high grade steel or stainless. I would probably avoid using a coarse stone like that shown on the tutorial on an air rifle barrel. Use a good grade of lapping compound and go slow, check your work often.

I just wrapped it up a few minutes ago and I'm pleased with the results.
I'd post some pics but I'm not sure how.
Thanks to all for your input and advise
