Is the RWS 850 http://www.pyramydair.com/p/rws-850-co2-air-rifle.shtml a CO2 version of the Walther 1250 Dominator http://www.pyramydair.com/p/Walther-1250-Dominator-air-rifle.shtml ? or the other way around?

They look very similar and I was wondering if they are related products?

Does the 1250 justify the much bigger price tag, or is the 850 easy enough to convert to HPA that it is a better deal?

Well Martin, I think you may be on to something there...:) I have never owned a Walther air rifle but the pictures sure do look very similar with exception of the different tanks. I wonder if Roald has stumbled accross this yet. One thing I have noticed about the Hammerli 850 is that is is very well made outside of the stock. It is a good accurate shooter. Also the 850 can be switched over to PCP very easily as far as I can tell. Maybe a good idea to just get two of the 850's and convert one into a PCP..:)

Top Picture is theHammerli850 Co2, and priced around $200.00

Bottom Picture is theWalther 1250 Dominator by Walther PCP, and priced around $700.00

Yes Gene, you're right, they are the same inside and out.
Ken found some break down shots of the PCP version and all the internals are the same
except for the air tube and the valve. follow the link in this post and take a look:

I wonder how to get a hold of a tube like the one on the Dominator. It looks ugly so far away from barrel but I would imagin an offset coupler valve could be made. I really think this would be a good PCP and all you need for air is a pump.. Good winter shooter and the stock 850 w/co2 for the summer months..:) I am determind to figuer out what would be needed to make this work..:)

Was so excited Roald I almost forgot to thank you ..:)

To my mind and wallet US$500 is a lot to pay for having a PCB version of the CO2 gun. I wonder how many of the Walther Dominators are sold at that price? Apart from the ability to shoot in cold weather I'd much prefer the CO2 gun.

Well the  Walthers Dominators here are selling for over $700.00.. So $500.00 is not bad for an 850, air pump and conversion..:) But lets see if all the parts will be available at a reasonable price..
