: My 2250XT is aaaaalmost done!!!
: SDale January 15, 2008, 06:59:36 AM
I got the Rifle a coupla weeks ago and shortly after getting it I mounted a set of B-Square 11mm riser bases, Leapers 3-9x32 AO scope with accushot medium rings. I liked the gun that way. The way it shouldered, grip feel, palm to trigger distance, cheek weld for the scope..EVERYTHING was perfect. Except power.

Well, I exhausted the Airsource bottle after 60 or so shots (Still PLENTY of CO2 left BTW) and got to modding.
I started with the trigger & safety. I smoothed out the sear face and added a bit of moly to it and all the pivot points, then moved on to the sear spring. I replaced it with one that I found at Lowes. The srping for the safety also got changed to a shortened flint spring from a Bic cigarette lighter. The trigger pull is juuuuuuuust under a pound now. No grit, an eeeeeeever so slight amount of creep and a clean break. The safety is also easier to operate. It was kind of stiff and loud with the factory spring, now just a light press does it with a tiny audible "Click".

Onto internals. Polished the hammer and chamfered all the corners, applied a bit of Moly and a small 4mm delrin shim I turned out on the lathe. I also pulled the valve & did the requisite mods as per the instructions on the crosman forum. Opened up the Exhaust port, reangled it & polished. I didn't drill out the cap though. Just replaced the spring with a lighter one.

And YESTERDAY, my 24 inch barrels arrived!!!  :D   I chucked one up in the 4 Jaw, indicated the bore & went to work recrowning. After that was all said & done, I tore the entire gun apart again to install the new barrel.

Chrony results: Average MV of around 690 FPS with Crosman Premiers and 730 with Beeman Silver Bears.
Did a 10 shot group at 40 yards a little while ago after resighting the scope. A PERFECT 3/8" Clover Leaf.

I'm happy as a pig in a mud puddle!  :D  Now I just have to spin out a shroud & I'll be COMPLETELY done!!!

Well, so far it doesn't look any different than any other Plane Jane 2250 except for the 88g bottle hangin off the back. But here she is anyway!
No shroud yet though. I have to get materials this weekend maybe.

I shot the pic of the crown with a red paper background 'cause that's the only way the camera would focus.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Yup, it should look REAL good in a couple months Mike! hehe :D

Bill... She shoots straight enough I think! Well, more parabolic tee hee. Had to aim 1 mil-dot high at 40 yards.

Hopefully this weekend I'll get the materials and 11mm drill bit to fab up the shroud. I'm still deciding on a 3/4 or 1 inch diameter shroud though.

Wow...that sure is nice 8)

Looks alot like mine actually, but mine can't group like yours. :D

Any chance I can send my barrel off to you for a crown job?

Sure, not a problem!

Does it still have the factory crown or has it been crowned before?

Still factory untouched.

Great...I'll send you a PM when I'm ready to do this.
Probably around spring time.

If I had a lathe I'd do it myself, I did take up machine shop in high school. I haven't forgotten what I've learned there.
But alas I'm an auto and diesel tech. now.
I couldn't stand the the thought of standing at a machine for over 8hrs. a day.

OK, not a problem at all!!!

Aaaah, I know whatcha mean about standing in front of a machine all day. I did that for a couple years. Get's kinda repetitive & boring. One day just kinda runs into the next unless you're prototyping something or making something for yourself.
