: Gamo wrench set?
: jr28 January 15, 2008, 01:15:02 PM
The screws are getting to be a bit loose in my rifle, but I can't seem to find the wrenches that came with the gun so, if anyone knows where I can buy a set, I'd appreciate the info.  I looked on pyramidair, and came across a B-Square driver set, but I wasn't sure if it would be compatible with those weird screws on this rifle...
Thanks.

Nick, gamo uses torx screws, if you can't find them in a hardware store, try any auto parts store, I'm sure you'll find them for under $10 for a set.

hope this helps

Also, sets of Torx drivers are available relatively cheaply from Harbor Freight (they call them 'star bits' instead of Torx), if there's a retail store located near you-- for instance:

You might do better with the local auto parts or hardware store if you had to pay shipping charges, though.

I'd go with a QUALITY set of Torx wrenches. I've tried NUMBEROUS brands of them from Cheap to Expensive. The teeth on the cheap ones (like from Harbor Freight) fold over pretty easily. They'er also tapered sometimes and will end up stripping out the screw heads.

I think you're better of getting a set of Craftsman Torx bits. There are 2 different kinds from Craftsman. A silver or chrome colored set and a Black Oxide (blued steel) set. Get the black oxide set (labled as Companion) they're hardened. The tips are also a bit sharper so they grab better. They run about $5 bucks for an 8 piece folding set.

Another good set is the 20 piece 1/4"  set from Matco Tools. Although it's on the expensive side, it works extremely well! I havent had any of them fold over or get chewed up and I've had the set for close to 5 years now. I needed them when I was working on Volvo & GMC Trucks. The set runs about $75 bucks and comes with a Driver Handle, 1/4" socket wrench and finger ratchet.

My motto has always been: Buy good tools ONCE and never experience the heartache, busted knuckes and empty pockets from buying cheep tools over & over again.
