: Scope suggestions...
: January 15, 2008, 11:33:11 PM
Getting a B40 .177, wanna shoot some HFT(10%),  back yard bench rest (50%), and general plinking(40%) at ranges from 10-50 yards. I like Mil-Dot reticles, and AO too.  I'd also like to leave the loading port unobstructed, if possible, by scope over hang, AND....here's the kicker....keep the price under $100.00

Help me out guys.....what kinda suggestions you got.... OR, what are you shooting on your B40's?

Kliff, I have a Centerpoint 3-9 x 50 AO IR scope on my B40. I love the optics, nice mil dot reticle, and it does not obstruct the loading port. That big 50mm AO sure does grab a lot of light. The down side to that scope is its weight, 22oz. Being as the B40 is already a tank, it didn't make much difference to me. Another scope I would recommend is the Bushnell Banner 4-12 x 40 AO. 12.5", 15 oz. It has very good optics and Bushnell stands behind their product very well. I have those 4-12 Banners on my Lightning XL and my RWS 34. It is one of my favorite scopes for under $100.00. The downside to the Bushy is no mil dot reticle, but I do like the duplex reticle they have.

Optics Planet has the best deal going on Banners:

Thanks PC, I appreciate the suggestion! Looks like the consensus is lighter weight, 3-9 to 4-12, 40-44mm..... Silo is recomending same basics you are. So now I just gotta narrow it down, but the Banner is looking sweeet.

Thanks again,

What mounts are you using with the Banner on your B40 ?

Kliff, I have the Centerpoint 3-9 x 50AO scope on my B40, it is in a Beeman 5036, 1pc. high mount. I think you can mount the Banner on a B40 in an Accushot 1pc and save some money on the mount, probably want to use a high version. The 40 mm AO on the Banner has a fairly large OD on it.

Thanks again PC.....It's  rough, getting old and having brain farts.... I completely blanked out, the fact you said it had a CP on it. Doooooooaahhhhhhh!

It's called dumbolefartitis....sorry. But I 'preciate the info, looks like I'm going with the Banner, and an AccuShot mount.
: Yup....
