: Anyone ever taken a Sumatra apart?
: Mstrange January 27, 2008, 03:38:26 AM
I was thinking about learning more about how my gun works just in case I have to go in and fix something so does anyone know where I should start, what precautions I should take ect before I go and break something? :)

Never took my Sumatra apart, it worked fine and didn't see the point.  I had my Career apart, or at least partially apart, pretty simple designs.  Had a few other PCP's apart and I wouldn't say I'd do it just to see how it works.  Start taking gas guns apart and start losing parts and damaging seals.  If you do decide to do it make sure you dump ALL of the air first, even 100psi in the right circumstances can kill you.  Don't know how you'd degass a Sumatra besides shooting all of the air out of it...if you use a pump I'd bet they are hell to pump up from zero.  I'd avoid it unless it's broken, just my $0.02

Never taken mine apart. However anything that has o-rings that have been compressed for an extended time have a tendency to deform. Putting the pieces back together they sometimes fail to seal. My suggestion have a complete set of replacement o-ring before you start the job. Better yet go back with ones that exceed the manufacturers specs. I hear the one in the breech is the weakest and wears out  after a thousand or so shots.
