: Wal-Mart Deal :-)
: leftcoast1 February 10, 2008, 12:23:58 PM
Talked to Howie Today and he told me the dasiy Powerline 1000 dropped even further in price at one of our local Wal-Mart's. I loaded everyone up and headed down there. I got there looked all over finally found them on a clearance rack with other outdoor things. They had 5 left and all but one had been opened. I grabed it up and was heading to the register and a different price tag caught my eye. I looked and it was for the Seirra Pro. I really wanted the rough hammer but I couldn't pass up the Pro. The 1000 was marked down to 50 but the marked the Pro all the way down to 70.00. That is 19.00 less then I picked up my G1 Extreame clearance gun for. The Pro is a little rougher than the G1 is but I guess the it's the firing cycle and the fact that another 28.00 and I get a completly different trigger keeps drawing me to these guns. Neither one of my Crosman guns came with the traditional twang. So far so good only got about 6 or 7 shots through the Pro and the major detenation is gone. Just from point at 7 yards all the shots were under a dime so I think she is going to work out fine. :)  :)  :)

Wow, I didn't even think about checking to see if they'd stuck the old 1000S and G1's on the clearance rack when I was at WM yesterday morning. Looks like I may have to drop by on my way home from work to see what's what.

Thanks for mentioning it, Jason (and Howie).

I just came back from lunch, having stopped at Wal-Mart on the way.  There were no deals as good as the Sierra Pro fpr $70 but all of them were marked down to $109.  I'll be suprised if they go down much further here (Iowa) but that is still good.  It is $50 less than Pyramyd sells them for.

I think the "deals" come with the Walmart territory.  For instance:  We all know of the Centerpoint rifle scopes available at Walmart for ~$70.  I set out to find one in my area the other day.  I walked into a store located in an urban area to find these scopes were marked down to $25 with the cute lil red sticker.  WOO HOO... but they were sold out.  Needless to say, four stores later I finally bought what I'm sure was the last available Centerpoint scope in the B'ham area.  Of course I called every store within 30 miles of me in search of the $25 deal but only found the single $70 scope.  Shucks!!!

When I looked at the Pro it still had the 109 sticker on top. I saw the $70 price on the end and thought it was a different gun. Make sure and check the entire box over. Even the 1000 was priced on the end. The CP scopes are still 70 here as well.

My local Mart has the Centerpiont for $70 still and $89 the G1s are gone as is the $109 Sierra Pros. :( . I have a total of 7 Walmarts in my urban areas of MA yet no deals to be had!

After work this afternoon I decided to hit the 2 Walmarts in my area.  The first one had basically nothing on sale.  The second one had 3 Crosman G-1 Extremes on the discount rack for $89.  All 3 boxes looked like they had been opened and resealed, but the one box I looked in had the rifle and all  other parts neatly packed away as they should be.  I probably shoulda bought one but I put it back on the shelf and I'm gonna just keep checking periodically to see if the price comes down even further.  I already have a fine shooting G-1 in the gun safe so I don't mind waiting to see if the price comes down,,, but if after a week or so they are still $89 and still there I'll pick one up cause I certainly wouldn't mind having another one.

Hey,

I went to two different Walmarts this weekend, but here in NJ, they don't even sell targets !

I did get a good buy on Lethal Weapon in DVD though !

I wish whoever runs the NJ stores had some Cajones...

After reading the latest posts about the Wal-Mart air rifle discounts, I couldn't resist temptation and dropped by our only Wally here in Anderson today. Well lo and behold, Crosman Sierra Pros (2) marked down to $109.95 from $149.95.  I had looked at this model before Xmas and found the $149.95 price the lowest off-line and on.  A Sierra Pro kit which includes a CenterPoint 3-9x40AO Mil-Dot scope with dbl. ring (1) pc. mount, targets and silicone treated sock for $109.....WOW.  So I bought a much needed $65 scope and for another $45 they threw in a real nice air rifle. The more I think about it, the more I want to back tomorrow & buy that last CP394AO Mil-Dot scope that comes in a box with a Sierra Pro.
Gentlemen, I want to thank you all for the great heads up on the nice scope deal where they throw in a rifle for damn near free.

Ya know,,,,, I really wasn't thinking about it that way but you guys are right  :)  I think I may have to head back over to Wallyworld today or tomorrow and pick up at least one of those discounted G-1 extremes,,,,,,, if they're still there.......

Dang, now you guys have got me thinking I need to ride down the road and check out my local Wally World.

And an hour later I returned empty handed.  No Sierras at my Walmart.  I suppose I'll just have to check a few others in my area.

Robbie:
The guy who minds the sporting goods area at my Anderson Wal-Mart told me the Sierra Pro models were not fast movers, so they (WM) were closing them out. At a normal retail price of $149.95 they just don't move as fast as lower priced models like the Quest/Storm at $99.95 and WM wants quick turn-over.
By the way, the Quest/Storm comes with the much less expensive 4x32 scope with duplex reticle and single screw pair of mounting rings. Thus the Quest/Storm is not the "buy" the Sierra Pro is.
Hope you find the Sierra Pro Kit in your area at $109!

I'd love to run across the deal.  But I think Walmart Corp. does not set the sales price or deem what is on closeout.  I think the manager of the store does.  When everybody was touting the Centerpoint 4-16X40 scope I set out to find one.  One store had it on closeout for $25 but was sold out.  The store 5 miles down the road was sold out too but at the ~$70 price.  There was only one store in the B'ham area that claimed to have any and by time I got there a day or two later they only had one left at ~$70.  So it's like Machinist said.... they want to MOVE stock and if something doesn't sell in one store they may mark it down, but that doesn't mean it isn't selling in the store 5 miles down the road at regular price.

You are right corporate does not control the clearance items. The store controls it. Your were right in the fact the no f the stores are the same. Some don't even carry break barrel guns. I'm still itching for another deal so I keep looking.

Barry:
I live a mile and a half East of "The Great Mound" and I think you live a mile and a half north of the County Seat.  Yes, it is easier for me to swing past Wally and post a "buy" if I see one. Speaking of which; Last Thursday when I left Wally there was only one Sierra on the shelf. Today, I went back to get that last one, and three (3) more (total of 4) were on the shelf. I pulled the box that appeared the least tampered and put it on the counter and asked the guy I spoke with Thursday and there today, to open the box so I could examine contents - everything was great except....the scope mount base was missing its stop pin.
I had already explained to him I was really buying for the scope, so he open the other three boxes.  The first one he opened had broken lens covers and a missing stop pin the second, had a good scope, lens covers and the prized stop pin but other stuff was missing.  He was very nice about "swapping" contents about to get me as if I had a good OEM box. That "least tampered" box had not been opened, but it was missing its scope stop pin.
Kinda wonder if there was a whole batch that got out of the factory missing stop pins?  The employee said he thought a store rep would call Crosman for the missing & broken stuff. Me thinks that after the rejects sit behind the counter a few days to a week, they will appear back on the shelf for sale "As Is" and further discounted.  Why? - Path of Least Resistance - maybe.

Barry - E-Mail me as per profile, and let me know when there is a good time to call you.
