I finally gave in and ordered a CFX in .22 cal after spending lots of time browsing the forums and review sections. I think I made a good choice given the price and the good things you guys and gals have had to say about this model. I understand a good cleaning is the first thing i need to do. Do I need to use a cleaning rod with patches etc.I heard about a paste that is used for cleaning the barrel using a brush or is there another way of cleaning the barrel on these air rifles? Should I completely disassemble it to clean it? I own a few other air rifles and have not shot them to much yet, I was waiting till I can clean the barrel and other areas before using them too much while they are dirty.I have been on Bob"s site and will be adding the famous trigger to all my guns as funds permit. Just wondering if you guys and gals could give me some insight on what to do to get these guns ready for fun.
Thanks to all on the forums for the comments and info about your rifles, sure helps the newbys.

Hello Chris, Welcome to the GTA Forums
I think your going to like the CFX, and I don't believe that it will be available in .22 much longer in the USA.
First thing to do is clean it up and run some patches throughthe barrelwith goo gone, I, and MANY other here use grass trimmer line to pull the patch through the barrel, until the patch comes out clean. The barrel on an arigun is not as hard as a powder burner, steel rods and even brass brushes can damage the barrel !
Then shoot your new baby and see how she handles. :)
If you intend on mounting a scope, clean the mounting rails on the gun with alcohol, also the mount, rings, bolts and wipe down the scope barrel, where the mounts will be connected. Put Blue lock tite on the scope rails and on the bolts to the mount, if you want the best hold for your scope.
Hope this covers your question, if not, there will be many members to add on here.

Hey Bill thanks for the answers on cleaning and for the welcome I cant wait to shoot the new addition. How exactly do you use trimmer line? do you tie it to the patch or do you put a not on the line and run it through the patch and pull it that way?

Hey Chris go to Charliedatuna's website,in the left margin there is a Don't-Do site.Click on it and follow his advice on using trimmer line for a cleaning rod. Flashgordon
