I got my new scope today and I was trying to get it ready for when I get the mounts ...(gaddamn you whoever forgot to ship the mounts with the scope)...and when I was trying to focus the reticle, I would see it clearly one minute, leave it adjusted there, and then when I would look at it again, my target would be clear, but the reticle would be blurry... The scope isn't AO, so the target should always be sharp, but when it is sharp, the reticle isn't, and if the reticle is sharp, the target isn't...what am I doing wrong here? Once I get the mounts (and the grt trigger...which should get here this week - fingers crossed) my big cat is finally going to be ready to hit some shi...stuff.

Dang Jerry it is bad enough not getting the mount with your scope and now scope delima's... :emoticon: .. I am not familiar with a non AO scope so hopefully someone can chime in on your question and help you out. What brand and model scope do you have?

leapers 5th gen 3-9x50 full size range estimating mil dot scope...kinda makes the mil dots useless if I can't see them clearly.

You are having parallax issues. The scope is most likely parallax free to 50 or 100 meters and you are sighting it at far less range. With non AO scope you can adjust it to the range you use most by rotating the front lens in or out (don't remember which way it was). It will still be out of parallax at other ranges but it is quite seldom one shoots air rifle at 100+ meters.

yeah...that's what I thought it was...I'm kicking myself in the ass for not getting the AO...maybe if I get some found cash...

you don't...it's set to a certain parallax. You can adjust the reticle focus though.

You make a plate that fits into those slots in the lens rim. Then just turn it the way you want. Lenses are screwed in place so you can rotate the front lens in or out. I've done this on BSA scopes and chinese scopes and it works well. You may have to take the plastic rim out first to gain access to the lens rim. This is the same principle cheap AO scopes use, you just adjust the scope to the range you use most and live with (smaller) parallax error in other ranges.
