Check out Dano on the forum Johan.. He was making a nice but plate for the Talons. Maybe he will chime in if he is still making them.

Here is the link with picture. This one I think David Kirby bought from Dano.

Hey there,

I actually have made quite a few Talon grips, fore ends, butt plates and pistol stocks.  I am not currently making any (lack of time), but Steve Corcoran is making a nice set these days.  He has some on his site at http://www.woodsandwateroutdoors.com, give him an email and see what he may have available right now, and tell him Dan sent you.  He is a good friend of mine and his work is second to none, you wont be dissappointed in any of his products.  If you haven't purchased your gun yet, may I suggest getting a TalonSS in .177, and then purchase a 24" .22 barrel for when you really want some power.  I had that setup on mine and it was real sweet.  I will probably buy another Talon at some point, funny enough I made about a dozen wood sets for the Talon and never had one of my own, mine had a set from Steve on it...hehe, irony:)

The only way I would buy a Talon Dano would be if you made the stock and grip set for me..:) I may never get a Talon... hehe

Hey, Gene, if you get a Talon, let me know, I have THREE of Dano's grips, all different :-).  I'm sure we could come to some kind of arrangement.  Later.

Thanks for the info Dano!, but the link unfortunately does not work for me. Could you please recheck and let me know??

Does anybody mak a "full rifle butstock" that basically looks like a rifle stock with a large hole in the back to accomodate the hpa tank?? The stock basically "pushes" over tha hpa tank.

Thanks
JOHAN

Food for though Dave..:) Actually the only way I would buy another PCP, is if I get a tank and adapters to go with it..:) Maybe down the road, but right now I do not shoot my FX enough to warrant it. Thanks for the offer...:)

Here's a pic of a FX woodstock conversion. Anybody has anything like this for a Talon?????

I hope the link works!!

This stock would make the Talons much more comfortable to shoot, dont you think??

: The Revolution......
: DanoInTx February 22, 2008, 09:42:31 AM
.........has a different setup than a Talon, that's why you can stuff a tank inside the stock.  The Revolution has the tank mounted at a slant to the gun, more like a rifle stock, if you were to adapt that design onto a Talon the comb would be too high.  Some people have used the slip-on plastic bottle covers that FX makes for guns like the Gladi8or, but the Gladi8or also has a slanted bottle and I doubt putting that cover on a Talon makes for easy scope mounting unless you float the scope about 5" above the barrel bore.  The ergonomics of the Airforce Talon/TalonSS/Condor are a really poor design, the best you can hope for is a really thought out grip and a good adjustable buttplate, like a Morgan pad.  When I was making my pistol stocks I tried to picture where the shooters hand would be and rotated the grip to match, the grip feels awful if you hold it like a pistol...you'll think your hands swelled or that I left way too much wood on it:)  Steves gripsets are ambidextrous and well thought out, I had a set from him on my Talon and was pretty happy with it.  As far as a bottle stock AND comfort, pretty tough combo.  I think sometimes about making more, but honestly there isn't a whole lot I can do for that gun that hasn't already been done.  They are a fun gun to shoot though, probably get another one soon enough:)

Sweet looking rig Kirby!

With the bottle on top of the stock rather than embedded inside the stock it will work, but not the other way around, at least not comfortably.  I am sure I will get another, and I will design something new for it...or I'll have Steve make me another set:)

I have been looking at the pictures of these Talon's with the nice stocks and this last one David posted looks to be very good.  I wonder how well fastened it is on the Talon? Before long the manufacturer will be building a model with a stock..:) Whata u bet?... :)

Well, since you haveto unscrew the Talon bottle to fill it, I would guess the stock is only attached by the grip screw and the fore end screw, the rear end of the stock is free floated and maybe just touches the bottle.  It's a nice design for sure though, one of the better full stocks I've seen on a Talon.  Airforce is making a 3 postion match rifle now.  It has a much smaller bottle and a "stock" of sorts, but I believe it's all metal and plastic, haven't seen one first hand.

At least that will make the comb lower:)

Speaking of pistol stocks, I just finished carving the very last two pistol stocks I will ever make.  Took a couple pictures.  These will be finished with a bit of hand sanding and then painted tactical black with a bedliner type paint to give them a good grippy surface.  You aren't seeing double, one is for a left handed shooter and one for a right handed shooter.  Very challenging to cut a grip for a lefty when you shoot right handed.....they feel wrong no matter what you do:)
