The other day I hung up some fresh suet cakes on a couple of trees at the far end of my property. I picked these trees because they are directly in line with the basement bilco doors so if I partially open one of the doors, just enough for the muzzle of the rifle, I can sight in on the starlings hanging on the suet cake cage and yet still be almost completely hidden.
Well, just a few minutes ago I looked outside and there was a whole bunch of starlings hanging on the metal suet cake cages and feasting away. I ran down to the basement, grabbed the .177 XS-B3-1 and loaded a Beeman Silver Bear into the barrel. Quietly snuck over to the bilco doors, unlatched the locking mechanism as quietly as I could, and opened one of the doors just enough to insert a small length of 2x4 I had cut to hold the door open enough for the rifle to stick out of the opening and give me a good sight picture. So far so good, the birds were still there unaware.
I picked out a large bull starling, put the crosshairs of the little GAMO 4x scope on his chest as he clung to the suet cage and pulled the trigger. The gun fired and the starling went limp, swung upside down and just hung from the suet cake cage for 2 or 3 seconds before losing his grip and falling to the ground, coming to rest in the pure white snow... All the other starlings took off and I am sad to report that they never returned so that was the end of my starling sniping for today. But the good news is I got a new camera memory card and can proudly post a picture of the XS-B3-1 .177 and the massive bull starling that she culled from the herd/flock :)

That is a good looking gun. It looks better in your pictures than it does online. Might have to check that one out. Is it similar to the QB-57?
-Josh

I think the internals are the same as the QB-57,,,, just a different package on the outside...
I really like the rifle, and the .22 version I have. Fun to play with, accurate as heck, and definitely capable of taking out small game at close ranges.

The B3 airgun is a realistic global security looker. The Bilco blind is safe from detection after your quiet snipe shot. I imagine that you "lube tune" the hinges and latch on that door as a deliberate maintenance chore. Afterall, it is one of your gateways to adventure to be enjoyed again and again. Sharp hunt photo's like those give are a pleasure for us all to admire.

Good shooting Jeff! That B3 look like it shoots .22 rimfire and ejecting them that from that shiny part of the action :)

that's a cool pic ..
longislandhunter have you done any mod's to the spring or are you stock ..
the reason i ask is i have a XS-B9-1and was wondering if it's the same power plant as your gun ???
-
Cool rifle Jeff I have one similar to it but it's a gamo 85 with the pistol grip and the stock don't fold and it's a break barrel but very accurate, But yours just looks cool and the starlings so much fun to blast they are one of my fav pests, Good going there M8.
-
Thanks guys,,, I love that little chinese rifle :)
Andy,,,, that rifle is bone stock right now. I have a tune up kit for it on the shelf but right now I'm just shooting it the way it is and I have no complaints at all. It is deadly accurate and shooting with more than enough power to take out the starlings and tree rats that invade my property... :)

that sounds cool !!! i been shoot'n mine stock and it's purty good ..were you get the tune kit at ? ..is your gun the same as mine as far as power plant's ??
XS-B9-1

I haven't seen the internals of your rifle so I couldn't say for sure if it's the same power plant,,, but I'd be willing to take a guess and say it probably is.
As for the tune kit,,,, it's actually listed as a QF-2 cleaning kit designed for the B3 series rifles. It comes with a new spring, breach seals and a synthetic piston seal. I used the same kit when I did the tunes on my three B3 rifles and the improvement was dramatic to say the least.... You can pick them up at SouthSummit for about 8 bucks.....

The internal's should be darn close if not the same.:) Ed
