I have a compresser...I'm just concerned the plastic(or whatever material it's made of will crack under pressure..

Hey Chris, I hope I'm understanding your problem correctly.

If what I see on Russ Sauer's Powerline 1000S teardown guide is any indication, you won't need to put very much pressure on the plastic mainspring guide- it won't really compress into the receiver tube with the cross-pin in place . You only want apply enough pressure to the plastic guide so as to relieve the mainspring's pressure on the cross-pin so it can be pushed out sideways (the pin may need a bit of coaxing to get it out depending on how tight it is in the hole). In this case, the compressor probably won't be applying any more pressure against the plastic part from the rear than the mainspring is applying from the front-- equilibrium, as it were. That's what we're looking for.

I hope that helps and is clear enough. If you need the link to Russ's webpage, here it is:

Hey.  Recently I did my first take down and it was on a powerline 1000s.  My crosspin fell out without any touch from me.  It didn't take very much pressure either.  After that just ease the spring out, theres not too much pre load, maybe an inch (at least on mine).  The plastic held up fine.
