Just before dark today I was looking out the rear sliding glass doors into the backyard watching a literal tree full of grackles in my yard. There must've been 200 hundred of em up there, but being protected here they are not a viable target so I just stood there and watched em. As I looked up into the tree though I suddenly noticed a few black birds with much shorter tails,,,,,, hey,,,, those aren't grackles,,, they're starlings :)
I ran down into the basement shop, grabbed the .22 XS, loaded a Daisy Wadcutter and quietly opened the basement bilco doors. Didn't even have to leave the stairs,,,,, just looked up, picked out a starling that gave me a clear 20 yard shot and took aim. Slowly applied pressure to the trigger until it reached the point where I could feel it was gonna break, squeezed a tad more and BAM,,, the XS fired.
The wadcutter hit with a loud "SLAP" and the yellow beak fell off the branch and plummeted to the ground, hitting with a little "thump". Every single bird in the yard flew away at the shot but I didn't mind,,,, the XS had racked up another kill,,, an impressive Bull starling. That one won't be mating this spring :)
The .22 XS has turned into such a nice shooter since I tuned her up,,, she's fast becoming my favorite backyard pest gun......

Right_on_Jeff!!! You sure do get em!!!
I got some of those Daisy .22 wadcutters afteryou mentioned them in another thread. Excellent value. I bought all 3 tins that my Walmart had. Unfortunately, any questions about when will there be more available were anwered with "I have no idea". That is the typical response that my wife and Iget when we ask anybody about anything at walmart. They also have said "the truck comes and we get what we get".

I'm headed over to Walmart this afternoon after work. I'll probably buy up whatever they have, which probably will only be 3 or 4 tins cause that's about the most I've seen them have in stock. I can't believe how nicely these wads group and they seem to work just fine on starlings :)

I know Jeff this bargain that you found is absolutely great. 750~1000 pellets for 9~12 bucks with no shipping. I wonder since these are made in china, if they are similar to "the peak" pellets on the IAG site? There's another excellent bargain if the peak pellets turn out to be good.

Well, got over to Walmart right after work and bought up all the tins of .22 Daisy precision max wadcutters they had,,,,,, all 2 tins of em :)
I knew they'd only have 2 or 3 tins cause that's all I've ever seen in the display case. Tomorrow I'm gonna run over to the other Walmart near me and pick up whatever tins they have. Considering how well they shoot in my XS for $2.96 a tin it's a super bargain :)

On the daisy 22 pellet at Walmart this is what you do I was a sporting good's manager at walmart.
you find the manger of the deptment and ask him to order you some he can do it. I would order pellet's all the time and I would buy them too.I would also comp shop other store's so we had the best price. they can take 2 to 3 week's to get there. But give the Manager your name and tell him you will pick them up when they get there. Show up and pay for them on time and they will be happy
to help you out. I had customer's the would buy 2 to 3 case's of 45 acp at a time. so it's doable.
