Hi everyone, I am new here. Just found the forum a few dayz ago, and been doin alot of reading. And from what I have been hearing from you guys, I went ahead and ordered the GRTIII trigger just a few minutes ago. I ordered my CFX a couple a dayz ago from pyramydair.com, heck, they had free shipping. So, I hope that I am doin the right thing. I have shot a few pellet rifles. Had a few pump ups. I still have a couple of really cheap springers. Not fer sure what the manufactorer is. Got them from them tool sales that go around. They are an underlever, and for $20.00, I have had alot of fun with it. I just wanted to see what it is like to have a good springer. I got the .177, and I hope that I am going in the right direction.

TH, Welcome. I'm pretty sure you will like the CFX. I have a .177 CFX, and have owned a .22 CFX. I had GRT-III triggers in both mine, best thing you can do for that rifle. The CFX is a really nice underlever, very accurate, not hold sensitive, good power. Try an assortment of mid-weight pellets in it (7.9-8.5gr). I tend to prefer domed pellets, JSB Exacts, RWS Super Domes, Crossman Premiers, Gamo Hunters. My CFX shoots best with JSB Exacts, 8.4 gr.

I think you will be very happy with the CFX...My 9 and 5yr old daughters are dead shots with it..Accurate and forgiving in the way you hold her.I havent tried JSBs but my gun loves Gamo Rockets,CPL,CPH and Beeman Crowmag..

Thanx Bob, cant wait to see what the difference is. Been hearing alot about your triggers. Sometime when I can talk the lil lady outta some $$, I will have to get a tune done ;) !!

I'm a bit more like a teenager on Xmas eve. I actually ordered my gas ram CFX nearly a month ago and it's been on hold awaiting the arrival of the Crosman Premier pellets. Well, they appear to be in stock now, PA has put a hold on my credit card, and my order status says ready for shipping. So I'd imagine I'll be getting a CFX along with you at the end of this week or the 1st of next. And like you, I ordered a GRTIII back then and it's been here ready for the gun to arrive. WOO HOO!!!

Hey six screws, Congrats. I've had my CFX .177 for two years and 1000+ rounds through her and what a fantastic rifle. The trigger I just found out about and will have to get one from Charlie myself. What I've found with mine is this; it is accurate! As accurate as some rifles with twice the price tag. I've done extensive ballistic testing with the tomahawk, rocket, pba, beeman H&N wadcutter, crossman premier hollow point and supermatch. I use the crossman premier hollow points all the time. It's a great economical accurate pellet for just about all your needs ( paper, plinking and varmint dispatching). If you're going to use this for target only the beeman is a nice paper cutting pellet then the crossman match. There are other pellets and I wont discourage trying what's out there; we all have our favs. I certainly agree with this consensus, use a pellet in the 7.5 to 9.0 weight range. How I got to this particular rifle was that I needed to dispatch with some chipmunks in my back yard. Living next to some anti gun people I couldn't just bring out the 10-22 with subsonics or cb rounds and dispatch with them. The new rifle had to be a fixed barrel type... And viola hear I am a proud owner shooter. Have a ball, many years of good shooting to you!

Hey Jack,
Great, I am glad to hear that you have had such good luck with yours. The crossman prmier hollow point is what I have been using in my other rifles, and they seem to work good in them. I did buy it to git rid of them pesky wire eating squirles. They have already chewed up the wiring in my house and had to get that redone, (could have the whole gamo line up for what that cost) so, I plan to sit out in the yard and snipe the lil ba_____s out. My outside dog lets me know when they are there. My other rifles aint just real accurate, probably not the way it shoots, but the way the scope mount is on it, perty cheap, and the regular sights just aint no good!!! I figured if I just go ahead and spend the money, and get a good one, then, just mabe I'll be satisfied. But, from what I am hearing on here, the addiction just gets worse (the lil lady will LOVE that) so, I guess we will see what the future holds. Thanx for the reply,
Kent

Welcome thsixscrews...Yes this is an addictave hobby and a great place to exploit the addiction. I'm new here too and have bought my second air gun in a week...beware of the classified section, it makes you do things ... LOL
-
Yes it is very addictive!!! I have been browsing the classifieds, and so far containing myself, sorta. I did get it in this morning, went and pulled a load @ work and got back home a lil early. Put the scope on it that came with, and got it sighted in. I reeeeeaaaaallly like it so far. Not really the scope, but it does shoot good. I havent installed the trigger from Bob yet, wanted to see for myself what the difference is. I figure if I can shoot it fair to midlin with the stock trigger, mabe I can shoot it alot better with Bob's trigger.
I have had alot of fun just reading on here, learning alot. I have worked on my own firearms, but these are a lil bit different.
Sure seen some things on the classifieds I sure would have liked to got, but......$$$ has a bit to do with that, and the lil woman of the house....... :emoticon:

Hey Kent,
Sorry it took a while to get back to you. I do think you made the right choice. I have a few other air rifles and this one has just what I required. Spending the extra money was wise. And to answer your thought on addictions... Yeah buddy!!! I'm up to 6 guns now!?!?! I like using it in the back yard in the manner we spoke of but I find it also helps me stay in training for shooting bench 223 and 308. If you can keep tight groups at 30 yards with this rifle with its trigger pull and length of draw??? You can follow rounds into the same hole with something that has a 1.5lb or 2lb match trigger on a cartrige rifle. I really can't say enough about the CFX.
What are your thoughts now that you've had it for a little while?
J

Hey Jack,
Well, after shooting the first few rounds thru her the trigger was lacking. I adjusted it as good as it would get, but I could tell that it would still take some getting used to. I probably fired 30-40 rounds thru it with the stock trigger, then after I got the gun apart.....finally....I put Bob's GRT III trigger in it. I wanted to first see what the stock one was like just to see the difference, and what a difference it was!!!!! WWWOOOOOOOWWWW. If you dont have it in yours, man, you dont know what you are missing. My shots were grouping a bit better after that. And the accuracy is definatly better than I can shoot, but at 30 yrds with the GRT III trigger my groups would fit into the size of a nickle, with 5 shots, and again, but had a stray, but I believe that was me tho. It does shoot really good. I love it!!!! Them there tree rats are in for it now, the squirellinator is back in town!!!!!!!

Hey Squirrelinator,
LMAO>>>>> Glad to hear your reaction, and welcome to the CFX. You're right, any misgivings on paper are yours. I do it with mine on a regular basis. Then I have to remind myself THE ZEN of BENCH REST!!!!!!!!!....aquire target, breath, relax, center it up, breeath, relaaax, draw up the first stage, breeeath,relaaaaaax.... focus on the cross hairs, hold breath..... draaaaaw the trigger iiiiin and, Viola!!!!!!!!!!!! I've got to place an order with Bob and get two triggers. One for my Cfx and one for a quest 1000. Yeah I love this rifle, even with the stock trigger. It's comming into its own now too. I would have thought it was going to be the most accurate right out of the box ( come to find out a little misconception I had about air guns) but it keeps getting better. Now about 1500 rounds... done some shootin this week. I cant wait to hear your reaction after a 1000 rounds are through it. Okay I'm raving on again.
Be cool and fun shooting to you,
J
-
Jack,
Yeah, totaly agree on the ZEN OF BENCH REST!!!! Reckon I am gettin to old to hold as steady as I should, but I'll get er as good as 'I' can get er, not as good as the gun can get. Shot is some more today, the wind wasnt as bad at that time, and shot a 5 shot group and left one ragged hole. Sure was sweet. Had to use one of the lil ladys pillows to rest things on, but what the hell, it worked. I love that gun!!! Have I mentioned that yet?? Yeah, you will really love yours once you get the trigger in it. Sure makes it one sweet, smooth shooting rifle. Let me know how it goes when you get it in, ok?
